Easter Egger club!

Love your jumping chicken video and the Boston in your avatar. We have two of our own.

I'm the proud owner of an olive Egger! I got my first egg from Cookie today. It's tiny but oh so beautiful! My other EE, Oreo is laying pink tinted eggs but they've all been soft shelled and laid on the poop board broken (except for one).

Thanks! That is such a pretty chicken!

My Penny started squating today! I thought she was guarding the food but she kept doing it. She looked like a golden osprey. I didn't get a picture of that - tomorrow!! And maybe an egg tomorrow, too. Sooooo eggggcited!! She is 24 weeks.

My EE roo is getting his own flock of layer ladies tomorrow! He's still pretty small (8wks) and isn't crowing yet so there will be plenty of time for them all to adjust to the new coop. We finally get it set up today and it looks lovely. I'm so excited to have a second coop!!!

Your EEs are all so gorgeous. I'm jealous that I ended up with only one EE pullet. Last week I went crazy and bought an incubator so I can hatch some of my own. :)

The ones on the right should be olive eggers and Cream Legbars. The rest will be easter eggers since my roo is a cream legbar/ameraucana cross. Just set them today so I won't know for a little while if I get any babies.

Thats a good looking batch of eggs in there!! You're making me jealous!

Thanks! They look good, but I'm not even sure the marans or legbar eggs are fertile. They are from my own birds, so if they don't hatch I'm not out much. If I do figure out how to use this incubator I might buy some Marans eggs next time. I love the EEs but I'd also like to have some more olive eggers.

I will be working on a EE hatch like that here in a couple weeks. Should be interesting. My EE hens are all crossed with a Black Orpington roo. Should be some pretty babies.

I am getting jealous.....I want to have some baby chicks! I am holding off on a rooster until spring....at least that is the plan. That way I could be completely certain that none of my "pullets" turn into roosters. One of my five Doms is smaller and lighter than the others and I don't know an exact age.....if I get another roo now and Jo turns into Joe then I would have an extra. I am hoping to have a rooster and let one of the hens raise babies. I guess I could buy hatching eggs if I don't get a roo.

I love my little Olivia....she leaves me an avocado egg almost every day!

Yesterday at the swap I bought Cookie, a Cuckoo Marans and a little red sex~link......no name yet.

Now I have eleven.....I know you all agree with me that I should make it an even dozen.....or even a baker's dozen.

I'm sorry if I have repeated myself.....sometimes I forget which thread I am in.

That is Jo Dirt in my avatar if anyone can enlarge it and see if you think this little Dom might be a he. No crowing....I am thinking at least 12 or 14 weeks...but I really don't know. Comb is getting more red...but maybe that would be true of a girl, too?
