Easter Egger club!

mine are slightly bigger than leghorns. but it depends on which breed they were crossed with. hatcheries probably used leghorns with the EEs at some point

Thats very likely (in fact, I have a hatchery EE that I am pretty shore is at least 1/4 leghorn). My EE vary a lot size wise, I have some that are about leghorn size, but most of mine are 50-75% bigger then the average leghorn.

I think my EE are smaller than leghorns.

I had to ask a bunch of people that kind of knew chickens if they thought the hatchery had sent me banties instead of real chickens...... They are small, but larger than bantams, just not by all that much....

Best kind of chickens out there! Out of my 5 chickens I habe two EEs - one at the top of the pecking order and one at the bottom. Ironic that miss queen B (Diane) is by far the smallest but toughest chicken and the largest chicken (Chanti) is the sweetest innocent one. EEs are full of surprises!

so are EE's like leghorn size? i have some but i havn't had any leghorns in a while.

I have 5 EE's two are my largest girls, bigger than my SLW! but the other three are rather petite as someone else mentioned.... not as small as my silkies but petite. but they do lay me some really pretty mint green eggs and their eggs are a decent size, I guess thats what I am mostly after anyways :)

Chanti is beautiful!! She looks just like my EE, Ari. Ari is 2nd in the pecking order behind my Barred Rock hen. My other EE is at the bottom of the order though. Funny how that works.

so would you guys mind giving me your #1 (or more) best piece of advice for making pet quality out of 4-5mth old hens that were raised in a big group & the 5 just came home 3 days ago into a small backyard coop. It's in the negative Celcius temps so please don't suggest just sitting outside with them LOL! I am talking to them when I check them twice a day & I have offered feed in my hand & 1 has taken some layer ration from my mitten bundled hand.
