What's the best diet to feed your momma hens to get the best hatch rate?

I feed layer pellets, vegetables, lots of free ranging, a bit of scratch grains, and flock raiser along with oyster shell free choice.

My legbars were on some kind of vegetarian/non-GMO feed when I got them. Their eggs were very thin shelled. The hens' feather quality and egg quality were both horrible. After putting them on what I consider a normal diet, their condition has improved as well as their eggs. The legbar rooster was in good condition, but he was younger and obviously not using up his resources laying eggs.

I added one more chick to the brooder, so I'm up to 7 chicks now, they're all entering the "velocirapteen" age, they're starting to get lanky, and their "shoulder" feathers are coming in, they've also recently discovered "hey, I have *WINGS*, cool!"

With the speed they're growing, I'm going to have to bring out the dog crate soon....

They still need the heat lamp, and it's still too cold to move them to the barn (evening temps in the low 30F's still), but these seem to be developing quicker than last year's batch

Great pics! The chicks are so cute too! I'm not getting chicks this year, but it's fun to see what everybody else is getting.

Hmm, I think it has more to do with parentage and how well their fed.

So far from my hatch that us going on now, I have 11 Easter Eggers to hatch. I'm planning on keep 5 or 6 of them for my self and sell the other 5 or 6.

Lots of blues and blacks and blue and classic duck wings.
