We are devastated that Francesca is indeed Francisco! He is everyone's favorite, a real sweetheart. He's kind to his girls and not a bully at all. We got him when he was about 2 days old and he's 14 weeks now. Yesterday he crowed a few times, so it's official....cockerel! His tail feathers are coming in with a gorgeous iridescent colorful sheen. He's been cuddled daily, fed medicated starter for the first bag and all organic feed and treats after that. He's Mareks vaccinated by the hatchery we were told. Unfortunately, we can't have roosters in our secret backyard miniflock. I'm doing my best to find him an excellent home where he can live out his happy days with some hens. He's a kind guy, very social and doesn't mind being handled a lot. He's had a lot of handling by my 12yo son and his friends so he's great with kids. I'm willing to deliver him to his new home anywhere in southern CA, in fact I would like to see where he is going to live and possibly visit him in the future. We are very attached to this handsome guy! Anyone looking for a lovely new cockerel to add to your flock? One of my sons Splash Silkies may be a cockerel as well and if so we would be open to having them go to a new home together if someone wanted both handsome guys. He's from Amber Waves Silkies.

I would have him but I live in MA, literally the other side of the country. Good luck finding him a good home! I hope his new family loves him just as much I can see you do!
Thanks and wish I could send him to you. He's really crowing now! Found his voice!

Its a shame that most of us in So Cal cannot have roosters, I live in riverside county in the mountains on a half acre lot my neighbors all on even bigger parcels yet I am only allowed 4 hens.
I feel your pain

Gary
Wow that’s really ridiculous. I’d be upset about that. I’m in suburbia so no chickens allowed at all. However my location is ideal with no joining neighbors to our property and a 6’ wall. They are super quiet too... until last week when Francesca started to crow. I think I’ve found him a beautiful brand new home with his own flock of hens. Going to check it out possibly tomorrow.

My father in law lives in Idyllwild ...do you? Your IdyllwildAcres handle made me wonder.
