A chicken has to be kept properly, or you are not getting eggs and the bird will have poor health.
Chickens are not made to live in basements. Why is she in your basement, and why do you have only one?

I don’t have a coop. Even if I do get a coop, I only one chicken so.

Chickens are very social, she needs a friend. Until you can get her one try putting up a mirror. Also get the girl some light.

Can you bring her upstairs near a larger window, lights you turn on often, etc? You can use a large wire dog cage to keep her contained and still have room to move around. You might even be able to use a used kid play pen, just would need a cover.

If you would consider getting another pullet, you should get one similar in age to her, but you would still need to keep them separate but near to each other so they can see each other and get used to each other for a couple of weeks. Chickens are social animals, so a friend would be great. Where are you located, in general?

But there are people who have house chickens, and enjoy them in their house. Not me, cannot imagine a long term house chicken. Some have free ranging chickens that voluntarily come inside a lot, so I think that a chicken can be fine and happy inside, but they definitely need a good amount of light and some company.

I'll put it straight.

Get another chickens and give her light, for god's sake.

I will never understand why people get only one chicken or keep it in inadequate places. Do your research before buying a chicken.

I use to feed her chick feed, but now I feed her scratch.

She needs protein. We are what we eat eggs are mostly protein. Protein in protein out. She needs some Oyster Shell for calcium. And she needs to be outside in a secure coop/run. And she needs a buddy to show her the ropes. KWIM.

You need to feed a starter grower 18% protein with poultry grit on the side and oyster shell over 15 weeks. You can find these all at TSC. Also needs fresh water. I would plan to get an outdoor coop for yourself also available at TSC. Chickens need daylight hours of minimum 14 hours to lay eggs. Mine started at 28 weeks. Provide plenty of fresh water and a complete chicken feed. Scratch should not be fed at all except as a treat 10% or less of diet only for chickens 28 weeks and older. Couple tablespoons per day that’s it. Need more than one. Need pine mulch for bedding in coop or straw right now for warmth if cold in your area. If only feeding scratch the chicken is being starved. It is less than 10% protein and never should be the feed.

Don’t forget you need nesting boxes as well and fortunately those come with a coop at TSC. Can start with something inexpensive. If don’t want kit, look at coops section for build your own small coop. Anything can be a nesting box. You can get a box, bucket laid sideways, large pot laid sideways, crate, etc. Anything you have around house and place in house where you keep chicken with pine mulch or straw in it. Put golf balls, false eggs etc. in nest box as previously mentioned so hen will know where to lay. Can also start layer feed once laying of 16 % protein pellets or crumble. Best Wishes!
