This chicken is about 5 months old, and continues to baffle me. I'm normally pretty keen on being able to tell the difference between pullets and cockerels. This bird is almost as big as the adults, has not crowed that I know of, has not layed that I know of, and does not have any pointed saddle or hackle feathers yet. He/she has a decently big and red comb, but not nearly as big/red as the known cockerels I have that are the same age. Very friendly, docile bird. A couple of tail feathers that are a LITTLE bent, but no sickle shaped feathers yet. Does the coloring give anything away? What do you guys think? Sorry for the crappy picture, it was dinnertime, I caught him/her right after a big yawn - the only time he/she was standing still!
