Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Thanks. :) So you don't think the red spot (at the base of her neck) is too red? Not the rusty color spreading down her wings, but that spot of red at the top where the wings meet.

Your chick is most likely a pullet. Here is a (bad) photo of two of my orange EE pullets (one in focus and one in the background, blurry). Both looked very similar to your girl as chicks. Both of mine are definitely girls.

Here's another photo of the blurry girl in the back:

I picked a couple with chick coloring that I hope leads to at least one being that Golden Campine-like coloring. I think they are so pretty!

Hey there! I have an Easter Egger whose 2 Weeks old, she was a sexed pullet, but she is getting in reddish orange feathers on her body? Not by her wings... Should I be concerned that she's a roo? I can put up a pic if needed. I know it's way to young to judge her gender, but I"m a little worried... Do I have a right to be? Thank you!

I think this 3 week old is a boy. The red coming in at the top of the shoulders from the top view concerns me. Do you all agree?

Like Jordan's bird below, the hackle feathers seem to be rounded which suggests girl. And the rusty red being on the back, between the wings, is not the "normal" on the shoulder position. Also agree that the typical red I've seen posted is more red than rust which yours is not

Reddish orange feathers all over the body would suggest you will get a beautiful orange bird - like mine

The time to worry is when you see brick red -- like the color of dried blood. Males often develop a wing patch of that dark red. Or, it can be a patch of white in the same place if he's silver. Orange body coloration is found on both genders.

Here are some shots of my 5 week old EE's. What do you think?

Chick #1 - Im thinking pullet on this one.

Chick #2 - I dont know on this one. Looks like a bigger comb than the chick above, but it isnt huge...
