I posted photos of Mabel a few weeks ago, when it was too soon to tell. Here she is a few days short of 11 weeks. The feathers on her neck look pointy, but it's just the lacing. There's a light white/cream that round out the buff points, so they're rounded. Thoughts?

Do EE's have a tendency to go broody?

EE's are mixed breed chickens. So depending on what is in their genetic background, they may or may not. I was told that the birds used to breed them in hatcheries (at least the hatchery local to me) are some that will go broody. But that may not be the case in all hatcheries, or in EE's bred in someone's backyard. Just depends on the parentage.

I have 3 EE's currently. The two oldest are just over a year old now. One of those went broody at 6 months old, and remained so for almost 2 months. She is now 15 months old, and hasn't gone broody since that first time. My other older girl has never gone broody. My younger EE is just 6 months old now, and she has not gone broody yet.

I have 1 Hen 1 Rooster from a backyard and 3 pullets from the feed store. Time will tell :) thank you for your information. I'm kind of hoping nature does her thing once. So the boys and I can experience it. I also want momma to do the job, so the boys can see the natural way. Thanks again!

Angie16hearts,
My very limited experience:
I hatched 3 EEs last year. Two have never gone broody (my green-blue layers), but the other (my pink layer) is sitting on some eggs right now. I tried for 3-4 days to break her, but then decided to go with it. She adopted the new eggs right away & all are developing. We'll see next week how her first hatch goes. It's my first broody hen.
