What makes you think it's not an Easter Egger? Looks like a hatchery Easter Egger to me with the pea comb and muffs. It's not a EE but X2 on cockerel

Araucana are rumpless, have wattles, and never have muffs. You can not get true Araucana from feed stores.1. The person who posted it said it was suppose to be a Araunacana and 2. I raise EEs and all around there face is nothing but puffy feathers and they are a lot fatter with smooth shiny long fluffy feathers. Now I'm not 100% sure and it's true they both have a rose comb and muffs I think not sure for araunacanas but I think it's a Araunacana not EE roo but I'm stupid so it's a 80% chance I'm wrong sorry

I was going to go with pullet based on the very even patterned head, neck then body. Agree the comb looks pink but I often have a hard time getting the color right when I take a picture to post.

They lied. Through their teeth. I hope it didn't cost more than $3-$4.

I would respectfully suggest you consider that junebuggena has been correctly IDing EE gender on this thread for a VERY long time. She knows her birds. There is NO standard to the look of an Easter Egger though muffs and beards are common and pretty much expected. And blue or green eggs are hoped for but no guarantee and you can't tell what color a given pullet will lay until the she gives you that first egg. Sounds like you are breeding some good birds.![]()
- First there is no such thing as an Araunacana. The closest you are going to get to that is Ameraucana and the second bird isn't one.
- The first bird is likely an EE
- The second bird is in NO WAY an Araucana. Araucanas in the USA will NOT HAVE A TAIL, they don't have the last tail bone on the spine and their tail feathers will hang down. And they will have EAR TUFTS (a double copy of the tuft gene is fatal). And they will NOT have muffs or beards. The second bird is possibly an EE but the yellow legs are not usual, they are usually slate or green.
Both birds pictured are likely Easter Eggers.
