Too young. I've had chicks look like pullets at 4 weeks end up being cockerels.

Thank you so much to all who replied. My 3 1/2 year old daughter REALLY wants colorful eggs so have just been a little anxious about these two will repost in a few weeks when they are a bit older.

We added 4 Easter Eggers into our new flock this year. With being complete newbies, does anyone have any ideas if our girl is a girl? She was 5 weeks this Wednesday.

I'm going to vote pullet on this one for now. I have had several very similar colored birds turn out to be pullets, so don't give up hope yet. He/she will probably be mostly red when they get their adult feathers.

Pretty sure this one is a boy. Patchy, rusty red is typical of males. Red females are more uniform in the shade of red.

Plus the black chest. Have you ever seen a black chest on a hen that wasn't black everywhere? I don't think it's genetically possible.
