Easter Egger

What is an Easter Egger? I have seen lots of posts about them but I don't know what they are?

They're a mixed breed chicken that lays greenish, pinkish, or beige eggs. Sometimes hatcheries sell them as Ameraucanas or Araucanas. (Ameraucana and Araucana are actual breeds, but hatcheries often sell EE's under those names.)
