Easter throw away, sad story and advice needed....

I just don't understand people. The poor duckling. Glad you could rescue it. What a horrible thing to do, and to take her daughter along - what a poor role model. I think of how that little girl must have felt too, giving her this cute little duckling and two weeks later taking it away from her and throwing it in a pond. That is pretty traumatic for both the child and the duckling. Why would kind of person would intentionally break a little girl's and a duckling's heart? I have runners and it looks similar to some of my fawn and white runners as ducklings. Here is a picture. Maybe not after comparing the two pictures, you ducklings bill looks larger than mine.

Looks like a runner to me too, my runners' bills look that way when they get a little bigger. Poor little baby, he looks very skinny too. I would say he is a couple weeks old. I raised one of my ducks alone inside with a stuffed animal. He became very attached to it though, like a security blanket even when he was grown. I had to wean him off of it when he started trying to mate with it lol. Also I heard mirrors can help a lot so they feel secure having that "other" funny duck around.

I use a mirror with are one peking and it loves it it stays right by the mirror all the time.....sure a cute little ducky.

It doesn't stand like a runner. They stand up and tall and it was only standing like that in the pics cause it was scared and trying to run away. Its usually standing like a "normal" duck.

On the niacin...1 tablet to how much water?

It kind of looks like a Welsh Harlequin. With the bill turning dark it could very well be a female. It could also be a buff, but it looks a lot like Shelley. (WH Front right)

And yeah... a mirror and a turkey feather duster are great for solo ducks.

The duck is this photo is half runner half khaki to give you a gauge on the coloring of different ducklings.

Thank you for rescuing this little one. People who think that living things can just be thrown away like that make me so mad.

This ad has been on our local Craig's List for the past few days. Hopefully people may see it and rehome their "Easter gifts" instead of throwing them away.

We are a small farm willing to give homes to those baby animals you bought the kids for Easter! Chicks, bunnies.....etc. We can provide them a good forever home. If you have an animal you would like to give to a new home for whatever reason please contact us at .. Rick: Ashley:

Its nice to know there are people out there to take throw aways but its sad that there has to be throw aways. I hope it turns out to be anything but a Muscovy. I can't stand the warts on their faces.

If it is a Muscovy, I would buy it from you! lol.

How is the little booger doing today?! I thought about him/her while I was at work. (I work in fiberglass and get alot of time to think when everyone has a respirator on and can't talk)

Mine are a mix... they have the run of the place. There are 4 purebred khaki campbells (two males, two females) a white crested male, and a mutt (colored like a muted mallard - she is one of the wild ones I talked about before)

There is a picture on exceptionalchickens.com

I am pretty sure it is a runner or a welsh harlequin.
