Havent looked at them till you just asked. I have cuckoos so these r my first hens from bc marans so well see. I think they do look good and eggs are really dark, colors good on roos. Hope it helps
The ones I got today are french.

First day of school for my daughter, big second grader this year. Friday will be a sobbing mess of a day for me when my baby boy starts headstart )O: It's very foggy out there, can't see the field out my back window but i hear my chickies! Bright eyed and busy tailed they are. Hope everyone has a great day, hoping to finish up the bunny hutch today.

Although we dont own any...we did a tremendous amount of research on them a year ago in finding out if starting a breeding program was right for us.
Sounds like you got an ok deal if they are decent examples.
I just wish that they would lift the import ban so we could get some new blood in the lines. Pretty soon there wont be any (non watered down / heavily line bred) lines left. We (american owners that is) are going to have to start an entirely new breed out of them pretty soon with new blood or loose them altogether I think (no im not counting the current american standard). And since it is the rooster that carries the dark egg gene, that may prove pretty difficult.

I can laugh about it now but story is funny.

well, still cannot get anyone to take the one roo and two hens, so apparently though, supposedly that is now the only trouble, as manager smothed everything else over.. not sure if i should by it or not, but maybe itll work if i cant get out right away.. how goes the little cochin pullet, heather?

Well it was a good day today! We got our first ever egg! My little 3 year old daughter found it and was carrying it around like it was gold and then tried to put it into the incubator. She looked at me like I was crazy when I put it in the fridge and I told her we are going to eat this one in the morning.

First egg! It's so eggciting! You sound like me, though. I was almost an entire year into chicken keeping before I got my first egg. Congratulations!
