We were wondering where you were at Daphne!

Thanks Bairo for helping me unload and Barbedwirecat for helping me load back up and crawl around under cages helping me catch a loose chicken! LOL

I showed my blue mottleds just for kicks....they were the only blue mottleds, so the cockerel got BOV and pullet got ROV

I showed my New hamps......they are all a bit young, but figured it would be a good experience. There were 14 NH total, 4 cockerels, 10 pullets. My 3 boys got 1, 2 and 3 in cockerels, and my 4 girls got no marks in pullets (so worse than 4th, but understandable as they were the youngest and rearlly are "too young" to show).

Here are my #2 (left) and #1 (right) boys.

The boy on the right in above pic is Tyson, who got Reserve of Variety. So 2nd of 14 birds. Not bad for his first show. He should get better as he fills out and finished growing and feathering in too.

I had to take care of my baby girl. Good news is that she absolutely fine today.

Congratulations, Nella! That's amazing. They won't be able to be beat in the spring. 14 NH? That sounds like a lot. There must have been lot more people there than in the spring. Did anyone happen to count Orp entries or see who won? Were there any SLW there? There was only one there in the spring.Did you all see Terry Disney?

I really like those blue mottled! I was picturing some my fatties with that kind of feathering. Did you work on that color or buy them like that?

I was able to make it out as well...wasn't able to stay very long as the boys got hungry. It was pretty neat to see all the chicken breeds live and not just as a picture. I was pretty amazed at the size of some of those roosters!

Not many ducks there unfortunately, maybe I'll have to bring some to add some representation for the other backyard poultry.

Hope everyone had a good time in Newport today. I've been running since 0600 and needed to leave early to celebrate my step daughters b-day. Delawares look great (thanks Stacy and Kim) you guys are doing a really nice job. Loved the "cracker jacks" as well. I could not believe how good Nella's "Tyson" looked for his age. He is going to def. be one to contend with for all you NHR fans. It was great to see lori and DH again as her little bantams are always a joy to see. (I secretly want a couple, but step-daughter would have them sleeping with her and the dogs) A joy to meet Ladyride and hubby also. Wish I could have stayed longer, will see everyone at spring show. Plenty of work later in dividing up the run and some movable walls for the coop to better serve breeding program.
My SS'S and two of my favorite GLW's are gone to a new good home (its funny how attached you get....yet I can send a roo cull to freezer camp without a second thought) hmmm.

PS.... Maybe I'll see everyone sooner at "chickpoloosa" HINT..HINT.. you know who I am talking too, LOL

Thanks Bairo.... you have in your hands a great jump start at crossing some good birds to get some really great birds. I know you can do it... it's obvious by your hens I babysat that you have a good eye. I wanted to make a story of the SS getting out and running off and secretly keep them in the cab! LOL!

We got BV and RV Bantam Dels (we were the only ones), BV and RV Bantam White Wyandotte with stiff competition so we are very happy with that... and BV and RV and best duck (thus also best waterfowl) with our grey calls. Kim won't stop cheesing that she won a trophy... LOL!!!

We had a blast and plan on attending spring's show with the same line-up plus bantam barred rocks, possibly LF BR... maybe even LF Dels... I'm still on the fence about continuing with them or not.

Rumor has it that within 2 years there will be 4 spring shows within the morning of show driving distance, 3 are supposed to be in places not an hour away from each other. That is going to be awesome for everyone in this area.

I hate that I didn't go to the show this time around, but going to try next show... will start getting busy once I get my mini-lops into shows... I'm down to 10 chickens, and 4 Langshan chicks!!

I'm sure by spring I'll have a bunch again... darn those cute fuzzy baby chicks!! For now though will help on the feed bill, with the prices going up every time I go to buy... ugh... Hope everyone had a great time! Oh, and by the way... Knoxville Zoo is having a free parking and admission weekend that started today, so if you feel like looking at the zoo it's free tomorrow! Take some canned goods and donate!! They're accepting both human and animal donations! They close by 4:30 with admission ending at 3:30... don't be surprised if there isn't much to look at though, with the cold weather and all the improvements they're having there isn't much there to see... but a great place to take the kids for a day of getting off the tush and walking around!

have a great day guys!
