Yeah..me too Bario. I think this may be some of the reason my hens are not laying. I use DE but am wondering if it is being effective.
I also have bought Oxine to treat my hen houses and chickens. Does anyone know what the dilution recipe is? I know a lot of people use it at shows to spray their chickens in the faces, which I wondered at the first show I attended "What in the world are these people doing??". Now I know. With all the wet weather coming I want to keep the fungal stuff down. I had a couple pullets who got runny noses and kept sneezing. The Oxine worked great but I did not mix it. I want to nip it in the bud this time!!!
Mowing in the nude???? That would make me want to poke my eyes out!

Isn't it against the law to be naked in public?

bairo - I would hate being in your shoes! I used to live in a bad neighborhood (this is before I owned chickens, I was working for the TN Valley Humane Society) and the girl living across the street was someone not to mess with, well not long after we moved in over there one of her dogs got out and I thought it was a stray so took it to the HS to be scanned and then was going to take it back home well long story short she was furious with us and I feared she'd hurt one of my animals... So one day the Society got a donation of dog food (btw they only use one kind of food and the rest is thrown away or given to employees) and I took her a bag or 2 over as a kind gesture, and after that we were cool and she understood what happened (aparently the old guy next door said he saw the dog run from her house and then I just grabbed it and ran, when acctually I never saw where it come from and looked around confused since I was next to my car about to leave any way). Maybe you could go over there and talk to them as calmly as possible, it's not like you had control of your dog at the time and you purposely did it... Or have you had a lot of problems with them from the beginning? I don't know your history with the neighbors, but I have always tried to talk things out. If all else fails, it's time to save up the money and buy a privacy fence or some other border around your home... to keep people out!

I don't have anything against my neighbors, they seem like nice enough folks, but, I'm working on making them REALLY good neighbors. I planted bamboo along the open space between the property so in a few years it should start to fill in nicely. Of course that will make me the bad neighbor as the bamboo sends alien plant runners out through their yard... but I plan on keeping those cut down, most likely,in theory, probably?

Not to get off the subjects of worming chickens, processing chickens, neighbors dogs or mowing in the nude. I just want to wish everyone who keeps up with this thread and all BYCers a safe and happy Thanksgiving! You all seem to be very nice and caring people. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

Hope everyone had a good thanksgiving.

I was on my way to the DW family's thanksgiving meal when we came across two recently abandoned dogs at the end of our driveway. Sort of an odd couple, a chihuahu mix and a st. bernard mix. They were both very friendly but skinny as rails. DW should be taking them to the humane society today. So sad that folks will just drop dogs off in the country thinking they are somehow better off. Out of sight out of mind I guess.

Hope everyone survived the turkey coma, the Black Friday store stampede. How many had 2 loosen your belt ? No I will never admit it

Which shelter? I know someone looking for a SB

Yes, it is sad. Unfortunately, it happens more and more as people can't afford to feed them or get evicted/forclosed on. "Putting out" a animal is never a solution when there are plenty of shelters and rescues and just kind hearted people.

He is at union county humane now. They think he broke his collar as the chihuahua he was with is in heat. He is a super friendly dog and I would have considered keeping him if I didn't have a great dane and aussie already.
