Yeah, I'll be starting shows in March...

I'd say breeders sale the pet quality ones for cheap... but that would mean he'd have to go to the shows to find one..

we're supposed to be keeping an eye out for barrio!

What kind of rabbits do you do again? One of the lops I remember....but can never remember which kind! LOL

I do shows in the western carolinas, mid to northern georgia, and mid to east TN of course. Lionhead Nationals are in Ohio in early May and will be doing that. Have a BUNCH of does bred for juniors for nationals.

Did I mention I started Netherland Dwarfs too? Have 2 himi brood does, 1 smoke pearl buck and 1 siamese sable buck. Both does are bred (by smoke pearl buck) and due in a few weeks.

I've started with 2 pointed whites (blue doe and black buck), and getting 3 more this weekend (2 does 1 REW and 1 brkn lilac and a buck solid G/T steel black)! I'll be going to Georgia, and other places... lol I'll have to look!

It's a few months from now so don't have to remember yet!

Edit: the REW doe is about 7 months old so will be breeding her next month for my first litter of babies!

I really wanted to do the New Years Eve show in IN but they get winter there and it could be a very long drive...you know like it's not in good weather

Our oldest loves the Flemish but he's catching on to our little rabbits. At the show last weekend one Flemish decided it didn't want to be there and that became LOTS of bunny quickly.
We are selling quite a few of our chickens BLRW and Partridge Wyandotte trio's(Foley) a trio of mottled bantam Cochins-roo has shown very well, trio of French blue copper Marans close to 6 months,a few RIR pullets over 5 months and who knows what else

Aren't they hard to find?

I did not have any luck finding d'argents within 200 miles. The ones I did find were quite expensive. Compared to the going rate, when Nella saw them for 40.00 a pair i would have fainted. That and other things going on is why I put mine off till this spring. They do make really good meat rabbits though and their fur is much nicer to save than California/New Zealands.
They are my first choice if I can find a trio that does not burn a hole in my credit card. I am sooooo poor

I think my girls would love one of Nella's pet qualities as well, but Lucy would want to kill them. Harley would probably just heard them into a spot that he thought appropriate. He does a good job at helping me heard the chickens when I let them out.

I looked up the breeders earlier..just wondering if anyone here knew of someone. Not exactly sure on why flemish giant...my DW just likes them better I suppose. She tends to like larger pets...we have had two great danes in the past (only one now). From what I've read on the breed they seem to be fairly hardy and gentle as well. Around here if she wanted to sell them, I think they would work as meat, fur and pet rabbits.

Well the reason I asked is they don't have the meat you'd expect, they are more bone than anything... if you just want large pet rabbits, my friend raises French Lops! She may have a litter due soon too, she palpated but wasn't sure! They're the same as Flemishes in size, but their ears lop!

Here's are all really sweet... I get my Mini Lops from her...

I don't think I personally could eat rabbits I raised unless absolutely necessary. If you could check into the french lops I would appreciate it, and I'll look them up as well on google. At this point I've still got some reading/researching to do on the whole rabbit thing.

I have not idea what I was thinking other than all my other animals are syringe + Med = inject! Well..I am glad I used diabetic syringes. At least it is in their system...everyone was standing erect this morning. What an idiot I felt like when Bario called. Thank goodness I stopped at the bantams...now the LF will get the yucky taste...

There are actually pour on wormers for hoofed animals. It just absorbs thru their system...so...at least this time I have learned a good lesson. I guess with me everyone needs to be very detailed.

I am so sorry for causing so much worry last night....seems God kinda watches over me on things like this...and where I am concerned He has a huge sense of humor.

Thanks so much everyone...what a wonderful feeling to find I have such a good support group here.

Has everyone noticed how many pages we are averaging each night??? I think we are the most active of any others I have been on...just that country blood we have. I believe I scared the chickens with wormer..I have had a hen lay today that has not lain in 6 months! It was so nice to get 5 whole eggs today.

I also have found who one of the hens that has been laying. My little Penelope..the Part. SG. This will be the first year I will have hatching eggs to sale so I am very excited.

Does anyone have the contact info for the man who comes to do the NPIP certification? I want to get this done early before spring if possible. What do they do when they come out??

Bario..thanks for giving me a call...I enjoyed it.

Nella....you are really keeping rabbits on my mind...I keep telling myself...NO....NO...NO...NO. But they are so beautiful!!!
Everyone bundle up tonight...from what I understand it is going to be cold and wind chill is not going to be too warm tomorrow. My silly LF will not come into the hen house at night. I expect to get up one morning to find them all frozen to the roosts like chicksicles.
