Thanks guys! I'm really excited

it's been long time since I've had chickies in the house! I had to go to LC and get a bag of chick starter! I dunno when the last time I had to do that was!
@ Bairo - it'll be 100% if the other 2 eggs that are on a different day will hatch, which I'm so bad at writing stuff down not sure when that'll be! I wrote on the eggs 1/7, obviously I was confused at the time since it's almost March now!

I could have sworn I told myself they'd hatch 3-4 days after these but assuming they'd hatch early, or something like that... my mind is in a fog with all this school work

I've got the hatching fever!

Well looks like im back raising cochins lol, just bought 4 last night at the auction, 2 white hens and a dark colored pair i believe them to be brown red but may be partridge as its not easy to see them at night.
@laughingdog, I will try to get a pic of him if he will hold still for longer than 2 seconds, he tends to be alittle bit shy.
Also may have call ducklings this year, I finally found a nice drake i might buy very soon. So no more angry llittle ducks because they want to go broody and I have to take their eggs out

@bairo, ill be the guy with the small black white and tan collie, probably just going back and forth, curious as to whats going on with everything at differant times, as something new is up at any given time from start to close.

an odd note, i was just cleaning out one of budgie nests and tossed two eggs that were a couple weeks at least over due to hatch, to my dog, and one egg was bouncing around instead of just cracking open to reveal the usual dude egg (still fresh oddly though), and started chirping at me.. so opening it up, i find what appears to be a fully formed fine and healthy baby budgie. id think itd or itll be bad off just from being tossed in the dog bowl so hard and from so hi/far to try to crack open, but put it in corner of nest away from other huge now babies, to at least give shot and not just put down, so best wishes for this little thing. if it seems physically or mentally disabled or seems to not grow or be in pain ill put down, but hopefully i didnt do any dammage as seems so far.

I hope the little one turns out ok, never seen a baby parakeet other than the age you buy them at the pet shop.
The new cochins are settling in great but it seems the roo hasnt been handled much, when I open the coop door he runs the other way even when im feeding them

Hey all, Got a question. I noticed yesterday. That my 2 roos were fighting over hens. Now I have a hen with a bald butt and a roo with a bald butt. Then another hen that they keep fighting over today. Is missing feathers on her back. So do I need to separate the roos? Do any of you all use the hen saddles? I have the stuff to make one. But didn't know if it would really help. I did check them for mites and lice. Didn't see anything. Just a little dried mud from all the rain we've had. My yard is like a swamp in places. I hope my grass comes back.

To me it sounds like you have a overly breeding roo, I would suggest taking out the one who is not missing feathers as he is the likely suspect. About the mite/lice thing, last year I had a bout with some that were so tiny and nearly invisible, Its super hard to see them and on some birds I had to look a few diff times before i caught it. If they have any of those or are going into molt and he is overly breeding them that can only worsen the problem. Once they grow out their feathers you might try reintroducing him to a few of the more dominant hens. Hope this helps.
