Is that a dare? hmm..............

Scary moment yesterday, I guess my paranoia wasn't without reason. I came home yesterday and my brooder was dark, the light bulb blew while I was at work. I usually keep 2 lamps on them, but it was so warm yesterday that I turned the other one off. Luckily the mild weather is what saved them too, they all were hiding under the oldest frizzle chick which is maybe 4 weeks old. I asked my boyfriend if he had noticed that it was off when he came home a few hours before me and he said he did, but thought I had turned off on purpose. Arrrrghbl....

Snozzle - I hate that your BF didn't realize they were in need, I had the opposite problem the other day, mine had a light and the were outside in the hot heat and were just panting! DH came home and opened the brooder and turned the light out, poor little chickies... he told me I almost had some chicken nuggets

they're fine now. I've learned my lesson, now I just turn the light out 24/7 and they seem fine at night, keeps them from digging all the shavings into the water container.

Glad you're chickies are ok! Sorry for not adding that in earlier, I had just got home from playing with puppies! OMG, I did not need to do that...

Haha! You're lucky then. I usually get butts. I have albums and albums of hind ends.

I'm puzzled. I put a golf ball in the middle nesting box in the bantam coop. When I went to gather eggs tonight it was in the LEFT nesting box. How did they do that?!?!? There's not bird in that coop that weighs more than a golf ball, soaking wet.

chickens can shuffle eggs around like soccer balls on feet between legs, carry under wings, and grab with beaks.. ive actually seen my games do this to steal eggs, and move them around or take back out of collection basket.

I've seen them use their beaks like bulldozers and I've seen them shuffle them around with their feet but I just can't see any of them being strong enough to hold it under their wing. These are raised nesting boxes with a perch so I think at some point the golf ball had to be on the floor of the coop and they had to lift it about 12" to get it in the other box.

They've got to be the strongest little birds around...

Yesh! Those are 7 week old dachshunds! They are for sale, my "aunt" and her son's dachshunds got busy and weren't supposed to and now they're looking for good homes. The mother is registered, the father is suppose to be but they can't find the papers. They're sooo cute, and so calm for puppies! It actually made me want one...
