And yes, I feel you pain on animal problems. One of the barn cats was limping this afternoon and is now not putting any weight on that front leg. It is swollen twice the size. I have it in the bathroom for now, and i guess I'll be at the vet in the morning.....

Aww TNBarnQueen, you should come to the TSC swap in Kingsport :D I should be there this time selling some of my pretty boys! *nudgenudge*

Actually I had thought about it. Our TSC here had 1 and that was it. But of course it was a very poor turn out. If you do not advertise something how can people know to come! There was a man with 2 goats, a lady selling crafts and I think that was it. I have ask about their having one but they just get that distant look in their eyes which means.....No. When are they having their next one?

Nella...ask your vet if he will let you buy amoxicillin (unmixed) to keep on hand. I do so that if something happens over the weekend I can go ahead and get a head start on them. There are a lot of people in my area who cannot afford vet bills so they bring them to me. I do a lot of homeopathic treatment. Anyway...I helped a couple people with their cats and then another...and another. I do not mind though. I know how it feels to have an animal needing help but cannot afford it. But...if it is something serious I tell them they must go to the vet and try to work out payments with the vet. I hope you cat is OK. Sounds like either a cat/dog bite or possible snake. Good Luck

My chicks that I got back on the 15th of March are growing.

Their wings are feathered out and the chicken races are going on in the brooder.

They are trying to be airborne.

My wife went down there yesterday to check on them, lifted the wire lid off and one flew out.

She had to chase it around in the basement till she captured it under a laundry basket, petted it, and put it back in it's place.

I really enjoy watching and listening to them when I come home from work.

Joy and I look forward to seeing everybody on the 1st of April.

It's on April 7th, if you want to sell you need to sign up and call Jane Hall (276) 690-6583 to reserve your spot. They had a HUGE turn out last month, I was sad I didn't get there earlier. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kingsport-Animal-Swap/123957167725392?sk=info for more info. Jane advertises VERY well, she said most of the sellers were sold out even before they opened.

Hope y'all don't mind me joining in! We are in Soddy-Daisy, just outside Chattanooga. Depending on who you talk to, that puts us in E. Tennessee or Middle Tennessee. ;)

We picked up our first chicks (3) and ducklings (2) this weekend. We've spent over a year talking about getting them, made sure when we were buying a house last year to choose an area that would allow us to have them, and were so excited to see the "We have chicks!" signs go up the past couple of weeks. We're mostly vegan, but I do put the occasional egg into my baking projects, and we have plenty of people who will happily take extra eggs off our hands. My garden is big, and I mainly wanted them for their poo! Our kids have been having a grand old time watching all of their antics already.

They're all happy in their brooders for the time being, so our current focus is getting their homes squared away. Luckily, the ducky home should go up pretty quickly (my dad is a whiz with woodworking projects, so between him and my engineer husband, they should make quick work of that so I can get those messy ducklings outside already!), but my husband has broken out the AutoCAD and graph paper to plan out a major chicken mansion. And, to think, HE'S the one who brought up getting ducks in the first place, since he likes them more than chickens. There's only 3 chicks, but we're trying to account for chicken math for next year.

Nice to "meet" y'all! :)
