Well surprise surprise I *will* be making the 4/14 show in Knoxville.....I will bring the last batch of sale cages and any chicken stuff not yet sold.

I will also have a single bantam mottled cochin cockerel. NICE little guy. He was a late bloomer apparently......

Bairo, sorry I couldn't send both cages.....my dad is in town and had the truck that day darn it. He was about a half hour too late getting it back to me.

I was at the Kingsport TSC today. They got in RIR and Americauna pullets, cornish, Barred Rock st run, assorted pullets, and assorted red pullets( production red, RIR, and New Hampshire red). They also had some kind of really pretty ducks dark lokked like black/brown, but I'm not a duck person so I don't know what they were.

Nella...I am going to be at the show too....will Bario's cage fit in my car? If it will I can bring it to him. I am also looking for feeders and watering containers if you have any to sell.

Just candled the 7 eggs in the bator, threw out 2 that were porous and see-through at day 11 of incubation... looks like 5 good ones up to this point of the last eggs I had from the BLRWs.
Set 21 frizzle/standard cochin eggs! Test hatch for the styrofoam bator! WOOT!

bairo - glad the creme is going to work out for you! I'm gonna have to build a rabbit enclosure for that cal doe, she's a cage gaurder, and I feared for my hand when I fed her this morning!

Everyone - you're welcome for the recipe...

I remember my mom making those as a kid and she'd freeze them, and I would go to the freezer and get one and just about eat the paper off of it they were so good! Which is why I usually go for that recipe when taking it to a get together; they're easy to make and most of the time I have all ingredients on hand, and they're sooo yummy! I really enjoyed seeing everyone! Wish we had more time to really mingle and chat up with everyone, seemed I didn't really get to introduce myself to everyone - I get shy around large amounts of people - ajacksr (?) the nametag idea was great! It seemed to be a nice ice breaker for those of us who are a bit less out-going to walk up and talk to people because we realized who they are. I really loved the deviled eggs and the meat assortments, and the desserts were all good! Maybe next time we'll hold it closer to Knoxville and be able to bring different items, I would have brought other stuff but was too far of a drive - I'm surprisingly a decent cook, must be genetics

(j/k!). Maybe we could get together in October??

I'm thinking we could do either Norris Municipical State Park or Big Ridge State Park, Norris is only an hour away for me, Big Ridge 1 hour and 15 minutes... I like Norris, the lake is one of the cleanest! Or, we could just go with a small picnic area in any of the small parks between knoxville and morristown...

It's holding steady at around 100.5! Will hopefully put some eggs in it in around 2-3 more days!

I would def. go with that on a non fan model. Stick an old egg in and set a thermometer on the floor and one on top of the egg. if you can get 99.5 at the bottom and 101 at the top, then I think it is perfect. thats the only thing about those styrofoam bators....the heating element is a bit close to the top of the egg.

@ tennesseeckn

great to meet your dh. I had that darn egg pecking problem though and had to build a dark box, I told him I probably would not need it now. I think though if he wanted to mess with it as a hobby, he could make some money at it. I think people would love them if they were cheaper than the ones on all the sites. You should see if he will make a couple 4 holes and bring them to Knoxville for a test sale?? 14 inches cubed for LF'S ? Heck...depending on the price and if I have the spare money, I might still get one for my father in law and stash it away for Christmas
