Does anyone know where I can find a RIR roo or even a young one for that matter? Mom is wanting to raise chicks from her hens but we have no roo and have been looking for over 3 months with no luck.

Also will have plenty showgirls later in the fall if anyone is interested and possibly some pied color call ducks, those are hatching very well.
What color SGs do you have...are they from the one you hatched from one of my eggs? I am having to find new blood for my breeders.

barnqueen,

how are the eggs doing? im about out of hens, LOL

Ive got those cuckoo marans and a wellie pullet coming up now (born end of Feb.) but ill be darned that last EE set was all roosters but one

At least she was one of my favorites though, a nice lavender color.
You and Megans fave is a rooster.....you still want him? HA, HA. He is scheduled to go under the knife for castration just as soon as I find the time.

Not those, probably going to keep them, they have grown attached to my wyandotte pullets. The colors ive managed to hatch so far are buff, buff paint project, partridge and buff partridge project. My hatch rate is almost 100% with their eggs and at 80% showgirls so will have plenty lol just not sure who im keeping yet.

OK..let me know this fall what you have. Do you know what lines they came from?

Your eggs are in lock down. I am a bit concerned some of them developed large air sacs the last couple days. I have kept the humidity around 50% so....am a bit unsure why..1 of mine did the same thing.

But....I hear peeping! There where only 8 eggs that made it all the way. The others stopped at certain stages of development...most of the older eggs stopped after a week. So...possibly they where viable enough to start but became too weak? Shoot! I meant to write down the dates Daphne put on them when she gathered them. Will try to look through the window tomorrow...if I can't see I will go through the shells.
Is the offer to use your brooder still up?? I have got to go somewhere and sell some soon.
I am forming a theory...or coincidence. The eggs I hatched during the first part of the year where basically almost all pullets. Now...the ones since April..I am coming up with a lot more roos. Do the seasons affect this?
@ Stang...I am very eggcited about our picnic!!! I have an idea for a fun activity we can do. Will PM you to see what you think.

Barnqueen - I had 8 eggs of the 10 you brought me in lockdown, 6 so far have hatched, I see another pipped... They're all dark in color.

My showgirl roo I have no idea, I bought him at a show last year as a chick, the buff hen is pure catdance line, the white pullet is pure batcave lines. All the chicks are hatching large crested but I can tell I will need to work on the showgirl bearding abit, other than that they look very nice, im putting every egg I get from that pen in the incubator and hoping for the best.
Does anyone know if there is such a color as a black and white spotted call duck? I the guy I bought my hens from didnt know what line they were and they have been hatching spotted. Not a single solid white duckling in the group. The good part is they have taken after their father's body style and head shape wise.

Hey Terry your boy joined the flock last night on his own. He left the private pen I had him in and went into the main coop with the others. He roamed the yard with the younger ones today. No big fights! Just some feather pulling from the girls. They are doing a new pecking order since I moved some out and brought babies in. Looks like Ester is still on top. She is my first chicken. She lays double mint green eggs. A couple months ago she laid an 95 gram egg.
You know that had to hurt

Tnbarnqueen - I just took the chicks out that hatched, 5 hatched. 1 is a nekkid neck, how'd that happen? 1 for sure is a silkie. The one with no down on it's neck is crazy though!

Congrats! That would be a Show Girl silkie. I think it should be a blue. They are one of my main lines I am breeding. It should have a bowtie and be bearded. It takes a couple weeks to really tell.
@Bario....you have 2 white chicks hatched so far and another getting ready to zip. Will keep you posted!
