It is possible the raccoon could have reached in and grabbed it by the neck and broke it? They are very nimble with their front paws. I use to have one as a pet and it amazed me at what he could do.Oh my East Tennessee friends, I have lost a chick. It appears she had a broken neck. As I was scrubbing the tractor down, just in case it was some disease, I found raccoon prints on top of the run area. I hadn't been closing them up in the coop because of the heat, but NO MORE EXCUSES. I can't have those raccoons scaring another one of my chickens into a wall! No doubt that is what happened. Has anyone else had an experience like this?
