Where did I go wrong?

Handling. I don't know why you cupped a big or little hand... finger tips, and all the light going THROUGH the egg. Not the candle/light being bigger than the egg.

You also want at least 50 lumens... the more the better. Some lights are just not strong enough to help with even white eggs. Let alone brown.

HAHA! She doesn't know the quality, but she did get them from a breeder (said she was well known) but I'll ask her tomorrow for pics and price...

I tried an empty toilet paper roll but it didn't work. And as for lumens my husband and son both have an addiction to flashlights: they can't walk by a display without stopping to see if there's one better than what they have. LOL

Seriously though the BCM mixes I could not see a thing.

Btw....i love blue and lavender......i have blue peacocks,guineas,chickens and turkeys. And lavender call ducks.....lol

Question on the peacocks - how many eggs do they lay in comparison to the guineas? They are super expensive. The only way I could ever afford one is to start in the incubator.

It is super hard to see anything in those eggs! I guess my trouble is my flashlights aren't bright enough... I bet your house never goes dark in a power outage! LOL!! I'm usually good once I'm about to put them on lockdown, if I can see through it it's not going into lockdown, if there is a huge dark mass, it goes into lockdown!

Oh well there is the problem... I didn't know we were talking about BCMs... you'll never see through them... You'll need a giant 1M lumen torch and then the thing is too big. I have used one of those by putting a piece of cardboard in front with a small hole. Still can't guarentee it going to work with those dark bleeping eggs.

I have the same addiction. I think it comes from working in a cave... we all obsessed over flashlights like NORMAL teenagers drool over cars.
