Three days... what do they say about counting your chickens before they hatch?that is "wow". how long in the bator now?![]()
Yes, you SHOULD wait until day 7 to do things by the book.... but personally, I can't wait and if the egg is light colored (these are white) I candle at 3 days which is about as early as you can go. What I see is a red vein about a cm in lenth and a tiny red blotch attached to it. Right up near the air sack. .....littlechick
those stream's are great lights. We need to get you a chart or have someone come over and show you. I usually tell new folks to wait for the 5th or 6th day to look, it is much easier to see what you need to look for. I would love a stream....but it might take too much money away from my next bator build, lol. That little bonfire for the money will really surprise you. Especially just for candling eggs.
Quote: I thought I was doing well. I pulled three not fertile and one early quitter out of the 16 that matter (the ones shipped). 25% loss, but for week old shipped eggs this time of the year..i'll take that
Shipped eggs any time of year that is pretty good. I'm hoping all mine make it to the end... law of averages says they won't. There is one that has a hairline crack that I didn't see until I candled. And there is a pocky or porous one.... so I'll candle again and again every couple days and try to keep a eye on it.I thought I was doing well.
