OK, I am wearing the chicken calculator out.

I am trying to find a project that I can work on for the next two or three years. I figure since I'm not bringing any new breeds in or selling chicks, I need to do something while I'm waiting to see how this ILT-thing effects my flock long term.

I'm leaning towards working with my orps. I'm looking at working towards wheaten or crele, or something that's not already imported.

I also thought about using one of my SLW boys with my black orp girls to work on a SL orpington, but that sounds like a LOT of work because I'd have to work on skin color, leg color, and comb differences.

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, I'd love to hear 'em!

I went yesterday and bought a red heat bulb for my two tractors. (they have young ones in them). I don't have electricity in my coops so I shut everyone up hoping the body heat would keep them warm. But those bulbs are awfully hot. Are they not too strong for the small area? The chics didn't seem to mind.

My guineas, however, are NOT happy. They looked at me this morning all droopy like "YOU GOTTA BE KIDDIN."

Actually, splash to splash gives you 100% splash. It's blue to blue that gives you all three colors.

I have that crazy color chart burned into my brain.

Ack! LOL I'm so forgetful, and it's funny... I KNEW that but it slipped my mind. I've been looking for a blue cochin rooster to put on my blue hens!

Blue x Blue = 50% Blue, 25% Black, 25% Splash
Blue x Splash = 50% Blue, 50% Splash
Blue x Black = 50% Blue, 50% Black
Black x Splash = 100% Blue
Black x Black = 100% Black
Splash x Splash = 100% Splash

Lavender (Self Blue) x Lavender (Self Blue) = 100% Lavender (Self Blue)

Lavender (Self Blue) x Black = 100% Split (Visually Black, with Lavender gene hidden)
Split x Split = 25% Lavender (Self Blue), 50% Split, 25% Black
Lavender (Self Blue) x Split = 50% Lavender (Self Blue), 50% Split
Split x Black = 50% Split, 50% Black

Just depends on how much room is in there.

Watch them..if they are staying as far away from that bulb as they can get, it is too much. If huddled next to it they are still cold. If happily going about their business and scattered, it is probably just right.

Im bringing 8 nipple water buckets to the show for sale plus the one that Contrast Photo won. I think 5 are already spoken for. They are 10.00 for ETN thread and $14.00 for everyone else. Speak now or forever hold your peace, LOL

I will bring a bunch of nipples also for sale individually though if you want to build your own custom water bucket/pipe/etc. Like I sad before..Terry found a really good deal from a place in China, but I already had made another order from a company here in the US. I will double check but I think they came out to be about 1.50 each this time. They went down a tad since the last order I made.

Contrast.... PM me if you have a preferance on the color of the one you won. I think I have blue, grey , green, red, pink, purple

I couldn't either. To me it is like sitting your dog down and saying "thanks for everything, but I gotta eat you now!" I just can't eat something that I've named.
Then don't name them. I don't for the most part. It is nothing like eating your dog because I don't go to wendy's and order a spicy dog sandwich.
