Does that include "Room Service"?Thank you. In the meantime, he's inside, in the guestbedroom, watching tv and living a pretty good life.
I hate to say this but, more than likely he is about to pass. I know from the chickens I have lost that they will repel the fluid out before they die. We have learned the hard way ourselves that it is really hard to bring back a sick chicken. Also learned that antibiotics usually don't help the situation- (UT told me to never ever ever give a chicken antibiotics because they can never be used for anything but pets- they said under no circumstances can you consume the eggs- Im not a scientist, nor a vet, that is just what the head of the animal science said) As far as naming them, we still have favorites (we have over 140 chickens) that we name and unfortunately we loose them from time to time whether it be by sickness or predator but, you have to remember the good times with them. We had a silkie named Almond Joy that had been sick and fully recovered but my paint horse stepped on her twice, it took her a few weeks of being weak but, still active and then she died. She was the most wonderful chicken, she would hear your voice coming through the barn and she would look for you and then stand on your feet until you picked her up to love on her. I have never heard of a chicken doing this but, she was certainly special. Chickens are just like in our regular lives- death is a part of living and sometimes it makes us appreciate what we have even more. I hope your baby makes it and my thoughts are with you.Okay, new symptom: We picked him up and held his head down and a ton of fluid came out. (respiratory?) It was at least a half of a cup. It was like water but had a thicker consistency. He's laying down again. Breathing is normal. But eyes closed again. I didn't think it was respiratory yesterday because he didn't have watery eyes or snotty nose.
He's not even watching HGTV anymore.
Good to hear that the finally made it. Good luck with your hatch.Eggs are here, couldn't see any fully intact air cells, so sitting they will do... will look at them late tonight, but may not be going to the bator til morning.
