Amy here are pics of my Orps (the older ones).
.
Crisco blue about 4 months old

bb black pullet about 8 months old

bb & peti (she's missing)

blue cockerel (about 5 months?)
They are gorgeous. I love that big ole' fuzzy butt stuck up in the air. Too pretty. And I bet you never have to worry about a hawk carrying those fat little boogers off!!! So any feathers on the ground? Did it come home? Any ideas? That would've been enough to keep me up all night.

Someone was wanting frizzle bantam cochins. They woman I ordered some of my eggs from, has some on ebay. I usually don't buy from ebay but I was happy with my eggs and she was very happy to converse with me about them. The bid is $6 right now.

Okay, thus far I have met: Rodney, Terri, Angie, AJ's parents, Hannah (too sweet), and Stacy. Where was all these other people that were at the show? I love putting faces with names. And I love the way you all look after each other and take time to school me and help. Big HUGS!

Terri, we put your babies in temporary houseing last night. They are the cutest things ever - they talked all night long. I got up this morning to hearing him coooooooo again. I can't wait until enough time has passed that I can let them out to watch them. I bet they will be fun. And I swear if you get Tommy started on Bantams, I will shoot you. I had to listen to all that bunch of bull all the way home about eating wild meat. You can't get him started like that.

Rodney, I was so excited that I started hanging nipple buckets as soon as I got home. Tommy was on night shift last night, and didn't get any sleep at all. I didn't care - I was too excited. We did take a file and made a dent in the handle so it wouldn't slip. Hung two in each run at different heights. I THINK I got one of the girls to realize the water was coming from the nipples. I'll check on them this morning.

On a side note: my guineas aren't following me around now. I let them out yesterday afternoon and walked them down the hill to the brush pile. Usually when I get ready for them to come back, I whistle and they actually fly all the way back. This time they looked at me and kept forging. (I assume they are teenagers) lol

I was there....hung with Terry most of the day....blonde, brown shirt, bought the little D'uccle in the cage with the pair your hubby got...at least I think that was you. And just to let you know...if you are unhappy with that little roo....let me know before you sell him.

She came home this morning

I found her in the fenced part of the backyard so she was in a somewhat safe area. I don't know how we missed seeing her last night

If you ever picked up one of those big ole' fuzzy butt chickens you would fall even more in love with the breed. They are sooooo soft & very sweet chickens. I will post pics of the babies today. I think their size & color help keep them from being hawk bait (but Tommy's new ones may look like appetizers to a hawk!).

Amy,

Do you sell hatching eggs from your Guineas.

I am wanting to set some for a New Years Day Hatch.

Or does anyone else have Guineas hatching eggs for sale?

Just send me a PM if you do.

I would like to buy from my friends if possible.

Mom and dad like to drive so if someone here has them we could pick them up.

I would hate to have them shipped in but would if I had too.

My GF's mom has been saying for years that she would like to have some.

This would be a good time to put Guineas where her mouth is.

Great seeing everyone and meeting those I had not met yet. I wish I could have stayed longer and chatted more with everyone :(
Between making buckets in a hurry and everything else going on, I did not get to chat or even really look what was going on in the show barn. Stacy...it was good to see you again I just wish I was not getting ready to leave when you guys showed up. Congrats on the new banties. I think I'll just live the banty life through all of you guys, LOL.

To all that have chicken nipples now; I forgot to tell you that you will notice a very marked decrease in the amount of water they go through. Don't worry that they are not drinking...they are just not wasting as much and so it looks like they are not drinking. Also try and hang them so the chickens have to actually reach up slightly to get to the nipples (about 2 inches above their natural head height. They should easily be able to walk under the buckets. This helps with not only comfort, but them not choking as well. If you notice when they drink out of standard waterers...they hold it in their mouth until they stretch and hold their neck straight up to swallow

Amy; I forgot to mention on the feed thing that you could very well have some mice in there going to the chick feed buffet. I have even seen and heard of raccoons not bothering the chickens because the feed is so much easier to get to. You may want to set some traps and see if that is why you guys are going through so much feed. I always get field mice this time of year especially and I am setting traps today as well.

I moved the chicks out to the brooder in the shed today

(two weeks in the basement is all I can stand) I set another dozen eggs on the 7th. So Hannah I think I'm right behind you on a hatch date ;)

Lunar; I had looked at those brooders before. I think you made a great choice. I may throw together a small version of the floor brooder and test it for temps or let you borrow it and test it for me. I'll have to play with wattage though because if I get it smaller I would be concerned about them not being able to get far enough away and over heating. I'll play with it though.

Wow. I speed readed or sped read. (both sound equally wrong to me)

Mealworm farms... I wrote BareBottom already, but Terry, give me a day or two to count my beetles and see what I can spare. It might take me a few weeks to get them together as my worms turn. (As the worms turn... these are the days of our lives. LMAO)

Yes, it was nice meeting everyone... some for the first time, some again. I wish we could do it more often and down my way!

I will be getting pics of my new pair and putting them up (along with the pics of the chicks I hatched that are already on the camera). I think they are really good quality... we'll see what hatches from them before we go talking about it.

Angie, I'm glad your girl came home. I have had them be sneaky like that in the past. Scares you to death... you'd be surprised how a chicken can hide. My Dels were attacked by dogs once years ago and they were all right there in bushes and things... I walked by them who knows how many times and never seen them - and I was looking for them!!! lol

Well, to the lurker (

) in Georgetown... you are down my way a bit. For some reason, we are the minority here. I want to know what is wrong with Southeast TN, huh? lol

@bairo --- SWEEEET! thank you...see what you can do. I started to just buy the big 50 chick version, but the way yours is made, the chicks can get away from the big birds if needed. The only other solution I had, was to use the small one and build a wire cage around it to pen them in so the bigger birds couldn't hurt anyone. They could still see them and maybe get used to them being there, but no one could pick on anyone. But they are trapped in the pen. So I hesitated to do that. Let me know what you come up with. plz

THAT WAS YOU!?????!!!! I spoke to you. Had no idea that I was speaking to Lunar. How funny. I love that little roo. He's talked to me all morning. The babies that I got from Hannah stayed on the porch with them all morning just walking around their cage and checking them out. He put on quite a show for the ladies.
