Hey guys, figured I'd bring our thread back to the top

I dunno if anyone is interested but I have some Rhode Islands I'd like to sale, 5 laying hens, 1 rooster. I also have 2 hens from Ideal hatchery that are laying now, they're red broilers and nice and fat!
I've been getting more bunnies

I now have 16 bunnies, bought 4 new zealands today!

most of my bunnies are still really young, and 2 of them are getting eaten soon... and 7 of them are still babies with their momma.

Nella- The leghornX hen raised one chick successfully! How's the lionhead's going? I went to Sweetwater to buy the new zealands and they had some lionheads...

laughingdog - that post made me laugh out loud, I visualized your dog really doing that (as you'd see in a movie)

tnchickenut - I feel sorry for you since you have to deal with a neighbor who has no idea that she's abusing those dogs by not giving them everything they need, I doubt theres not adequate shelter, food, or water. All those are required by law, regardless if she has 1 or 60.

Glad to hear the leghornX hen raised a baby! she is a good momma. The only LeghornX I kept was my half blind girl. She just finished raising a pair of babies.....they are such good broodies.

I have over a dozen Cochin mix pullets for sale (plus lots of free roosters). Gorgeous girls, all sorts of colors...blacks, blues, buff, white/black, blue/gold, wheaten, brown/black, etc. Going to sell them at TN Valley fair if they dont' sell first. Also going to sell 3 of my mottled cochin hens. 1 blue and 2 blacks. 2 are great broodies, all 3 are pet quality only.

about half maybe more, but not the whole thing.. he was even trying to be his adorable self and help/begg by dusting off stuff he could reach with his fluffier than thow tushy and tail fluff. it was chopped steak, dumplings, and mushroom soup, so guess i really should have given him all of it. oh to add to the cruelty, i scissored the little mats out from right behind his ears, he gets them when he gets bathed or wet, for some reason only then. i could just see my dog running into a door, then taking my wallet down to the cop shop, and dropping it right at a cop's feet, when the cop asks who would abuse such an adorable pup. hahahahahaha

On another note...is there anyone around Greeneville/Motown who has any hatching eggs i could buy cheaply? I'm anxious to try out my new bator, was hoping to get some cochin or welsummer, or even some muttly mixes. I'd LOVE to find some domiques or Australorps, but since it will be my first hatch, i dont want to spend my kids college fund if yanno what I mean.

Hey guys, I'm back.

Well, the neighbor has got rid of alot of her dogs. I think she is down to like 6 or so... it's hard to tell... her house isn't very visable and her dogs are spread around the property... I'm mainly going by the barking I hear (or now don't). I haven't seen any on the property in about 5 days, which is a long time, because normally their is at least one a day. Which I never minded when they were way far back and not paying any attention to the chickens.

Anywho... I have other preditors now. A friend suggested it was the smell of blood from the first attack. All in all I lost about 20+ birds, ducks and chickens... some go completely missing durring the day, others get mauled and left for dead. I have one duck right now with a hole in her chest (raccoon) and she gets around fine... she is being treated of course, and now gets put in the hen house at night because the duck house is comprimised.

So, I have far more than one preditor and I'm thinking 3 or 4 species have found me. As usual, I'm far more calm than most. Lost some great pets... cried a bit, but I'm not mowing down the forrest with gunfire. I have some live traps out with raccoon bait I got from work. I will not shoot a bird of prey, period. But I'm re-doing some things to keep them covered better durring the day.

Contimplating doing a equity loan on the house JUST to get the entire propery fenced by a professional (so there aren't high spots or weak spots like their would be if I did it) and buy a trained and tried and true LGD. That would be the only way I could afford that. On that note: Selling my 2006 Honda Accord for payoff.

can you post a pic of your run you made out of screen doors?(inside and out ,please). I was telling my hubbie about it and we have a thrift store very close to us. If he can make the design work for us I can look for the doors.

yes everyone wants my dog, and say the others would have to fight them for it if i had to find him a home or died etc..
