Last Night I finished stage one of the new chick house.

It was originally built as a hen house, 8' x 8' it had 24 nest in it. Whoops forgot roost.
12 nest torn out and roost added in for the winter.
Then modified to add hatching areas for broody hens, sectioned off the area above the nest.
Then modified to add some warm weather broody areas over top of the roost.
Then everything torn out and a fridge and freezer added along with 2 double free standing brooders.
Now every thing removed R-13 insulation added to walls.
All walls covered with 1/4" plywood.
Rear door redone to seal off better.
Plastic added over head to keep heat in. (removable for summer use)
New Front door installed. New roost added.
New 3' x 4' floor brooder added with extra lights.
2-250 watt red lights from ceiling added.
Added another insulated brooder 24" x 43" with extra lights.
Added two hanging feeders, water bucket with 4 nipples and an extra pan for water on floor (till they get used to nipples)
Added white swirl bulb on timer to run from 8AM to 8PM.

Stage 2 will be to change from heat bulbs to an electric heater.
Add another (non insulated) brooder beside insulated one
Add 2 more (non insulated) brooders above roost.

Stage 3...........
Build a new building 10 foot by 30 foot and start over.

O well...some things you just can't resist. I just missed the
@AJ...glad the skunks are on your side of the county. We have them here but they stay around the bait shop above us. They dump their dead bait in the ditch across from them and they make a feast of it.
@Grawg..I know what you mean...seems I get a bit done and then time to cook dinner. DH works from 4-4 so if much gets done outside it is me or my sons. I hate this time frame!!

Ok, I am certainly going to need some hatching prayers coming my way. I just received 6 chocolate orp and 6 Isbar eggs from Greenfire (in perfect condition might I add) I will be setting them on Saturday in the incubator. So very excited!

@TNBARNQUEEN you can't shut down your incubators! There are too many eggs that are crying out to be hatched.

The sun! It BURNS!!

Actually I have started digging a hole in the yard. It may or may not turn into a pond/puddle? I'll post a picture if it ever turns in to something.

Sure that digging a hole is for "the ducks" , "a pond" = nice cover story ;>
you know vampires have to sleep in their native soil, right ...

Actually another pond is on my spring to do list for the same reason
just don't tell the DH who finished the diy incubator yesterday, he'll faint if he knows about yet another upcoming project (he'd rather find out I'm a vampire ;)
