Again...it is not healthy for a dog to be fed or permitted to eat raw meat! It does not mean "quality" meat or eggs makes it OK. This disturbs their digestive system and is not a healthy practice! Please do not keep insisting people do this as it is not good advice to those new to having their pets. NO vet will uphold this practice as it can also promote certain types of parasites to the dogs system..some being fatal.

CHICKENS would have to be away from home for a great deal of time to become feral. Chickens are not bred as feral animals but are domesticated. If they had feral tendencies no one could be successful in free ranging their chickens daily.
You do not have chickens..instead pigeons....it would suit you more to be on a forum concerning pigeons..not chickens.

Just because i can not have chickens in my current temp location doesnt mean i should again be closed off from an area thread, that you also discuss other breeds that are very far from chickens, a lot more so than pigeons (like horses).
I also if you read the post, wasnt meaning to advocate feeding raw meat to newbies or anyone who wouldnt ask an actual knowledgeable vet (which i worked for as a vet assistant for over three years), and if it seemed that way, i apologize, as hadnt intended that, but was meaning and stated that feeding "quality" raw diets if given or gotten (dogs that were stock killers), wont make an animal an incurable stock killer. also RAW and BARF diets and similar are routinely used and sold to for and by vets and top dog breeders (one being the only top pharaoh dog shower and breeder in america, that i knew up north personally), and are found and endorsed at any quality animal store, though over priced. Anyone who has had a dog has seen that it has eaten at least something that was not savory to most of us people, some constantly, and most of those dogs never immediately or long after ever dropped dead from it, though quite a few do, but otherwise we would mostly all have to keep every dog constantly muzzled when not feeding kibble, or canned which contains proven enough times un cooked meat, and or sometimes even eggs.
Sorry to post publicly and disturb harmony, but most of you, and some of you who have tact and PMd me privately and discretely either for, or against, get it.
fifty times a day average, ive never counted more than twenty five or thirty, at most, and i was home disabled whole time, but mostly only three to five times a day, that works best when turning manually yourself (three always worked fine for me, especially when was working). Im not saying its not possible but then they maybe using neurotic factory type bred hens that have nothing else to do.

My gosh....that is amazing. How come I hadn't heard of that? What else do you know?

I want to go. I want to go now. And it wasn't expensive. It looked like it would be cheaper than going to the Knoxville Zoo!!!!
I have been wanting to go to Circle G for a while and just haven't been able to yet. I bet in the spring it will be full of little baby animals too! Here is two other places that have exotic animals in Sevierville, Deer Farm and Exotic Petting Zoo http://www.deerfarmzoo.com and Rain Forest Adventures http://www.rfadventures.com. You might even be able to trade admission for free photos/DVD of all images??? Never know unless you ask. :) I went to the zoo twice last year, and found it really hard to get close to the animals at all. Their cages are so large! I am happy they have the space, but not the best location for closeups.

Also I got 11 eggs yesterday! Not sure why, but I am so happy about that! :)

Is anyone interested in a silkie roo??? I will post pictures when I get back home. Pm me if you are. He must be picked up too

No they are game hens. Dbf brought them home to me.. 1 is suppose to be a laying hen.. but she looks game. This man gave them to us. But they still come down when I fed. And no the net thing doesn't work. I ran them all day and got no where. They sleep in the tallest tree they can find I believe. Going to try again tomorrow. Now that there is 2 it maybe easier.

Ohhhhh well, yes, white layers but additionally gamey white layers.... you might not ever get them, especially if they were raised "wild" like that. Games are just that... wild. They forage better, brood better... and fight. Not ideal for people who want cooped layers.

Sorry, but you have very little chance of ever getting them down. I have had game hens roost 50ft up, and seen them fly like song birds to get away from something. Best is to just keep feeding and watering and gaining their trust and MAYBE ... just maybe ... you might be able to corner them later this year and coop them.
