Yes, it makes me laugh that even the threat and schools close. Then again I know how bad many back roads are since they never get treated. Our was ice last big snow storm. Since most do not replace tires enough too many are driving with bald ones. Not a good combo on the road. So it is safer to close schools I guess.

I just got this info and will checking it out further...for now here is the initial copy from another thread.

There is a new poultry club in sevier county we meet at the mc donalds off exit 407 at 7pm the first tuesday of each month

I just started this East TN. thread not long ago but I suspect we will have more activity as the season approaches and the shows start here around Newport. Very glad to have you. I am fairly new myself, but there are a lot of great people here on BYC if you need any help / advice, etc.

I have sent an email and tried to contact through facebook....no response??

I have talked to this person. First meeting went well. Now they are trying to start up a new show.

HEY!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for starting this thread bairo! I am in your back door...I live one mile off exit 4 (White Pine). Can't make any absolute promises at this moment but a friend and I would like to host a "Chickloosa" day here at my farm spring of 2012.
OK....I have not been on BYC just for a few months and love it...have met some very nice people here. My best friend Tracy aka BareBottom Farms told me about it. We are just starting a breeding program and excited about it. I have new chickies!!! 8 OEs and 9 Silkies. Love the Polish and plan on adding them to my farm along with Show Girls.
I raise Tennessee Walking Horses but have cut my herd until the market picks back up. My avatar is my Cremelo stud,,Sky,,he is a real baby. :-) But this gives me more time for my chicks!
Wonderful to meet everyone and will pass it on that we have our own little spot at BYC.

Great to meet you Terry. We are excited about our upcoming chickens and being a part of the community. We are starting out just for the eggs but am sure that it wont be long before being sucked in to breeding as well

We have had to delay the coop build, but hope to start bringing in the flock in April or 1st week in May. My fiance, myself, and my 11 yo step daughter have a small place ( 8/10 acre ) very near the exit 432 end of Newport. It was a fire restoration we got in December and so has really taken a lot of our time and finances away from the coop. We moved here from Asheville back in June and before that were "city folk" LOL from Indianapolis and Florida. We love these here

Mountains though and will never leave them. I could not believe there was not an east,Tn forum since there are so many of us East of Knoxville...this is Cocke county for goodness sakes. LOL I started researching raising chickens quite a while back but just found BYC last month and it has been a God send for information and meeting such great people. Please keep us informed about any events you here of in our area and especially for Chickloosa

Hey everyone! I live in southeast Tn. just off highway 411. I've got alot of button quail babies if anyone is interested, around 150 right now with more hatching out. They are $1. each, some are two weeks old, some are 2 days old. They come in a variety of colors. I also sell a variety of chicks-about 15 different breeds-they are selling quickly but I will have plenty of them as the season progresses. Thanks!
