Hey all, I've been sleepin for a while.

Well, I have three chicks for sale. Supposed to be white leghorns but one has a few black feathers if anyone is interested in them I might have some Buff Orpington chicks to throw in. So how many people have broodys now? I have two Buff Orpingtons going at it, they fight for the nest and end up taking turns. Looks like I'm off to buy some eggs since my rooster was killed I also had a group of meat chickens torn to pieces, but all are alive. How's it goin for you guys?

yes, terribly addictive! i started out rescuing one crippled hen, and then the insanity started... also i wanted was some tiny true bantams, just three hens and a rooster in a pen to watch. hahaha. now im down to half dozen hens, three roosters, and over three dozen and counting eggs in incubator, and i just sold/found home for almost a dozen birds. finally got some dutch bantam eggs to try to raise up though just the other day. lol also have the best rooster, a rosecomb.

I made the rounds today looking for some Granulex......LC Feeds didn't have it, TSC didn't have it. Loudon County Co-op did, but it was $15....so I will just trying antibiotic ointment.

TSC had the usual white leghorns and "reds" that they had a few days ago. "Featured Breed: White Leghorns".

LC Feeds had a bin of what looked like white leghorns, a bin of golden sebright, and a bin with a single crested something/runner mix duckling and 2 other chicks (1 ee, 1 something else).

Loudon County Co-op had a bunch of stuff. A bin with mostly bantams, a bin with all sorts of chicks (hopefully the pullet bin) and then another bin with just a handfull of chicks (hopefully the male bin). Plus a bin of bunnies.

I got 7 EEs and 1 cochin from Loudon County Co-op. Couldn't help myself

The 6 speckled sussex I got from TSC a while back are 2 definite pullets, 2 definite roosters, and 2 iffy ones. One is a failure to thrive chick that looks girly. One is a normal chick that looks boyish. Sigh.

@ Nella - When'd you go to LC? I went today and they have a bin of Buff Orps, a bin of White Wyandottes, and a bin of hatched bantams (You'd have to ask Mike what they are!)


@ Robo - I have a broody too, it was a complete surprise and was a SL wyandotte hen. She's setting on 12 eggs of hers and one other SLW hen. The hatch rates not great but looks like I may be getting a lot of pullets, we'll see...

these hatches are to test sexing by feathers and fertility and how good my stock turns out from my current parenting stock. Thats why I have so many chicks

lol I'm going to keep as many as possible but there is already some bad chicks from my EE rooster (another reason I need him gone so I can put the other one in) the chicks came out with yellow legs!!

wholesale liquidations 1132 davis, in morristown has chicks for a buck, every monday morn, and you can buy just one. the guys working there are usually cool, just dont trust the owner on what says (same guy who owns auction/stock barn). they hardly ever know what theyre getting in till it shows up, from mcmurray hatchery, and id put the chicks up on a grate with some vinegar in water for week till coccidiosis subsides, if present .
