I have been looking at getting NPIP. It was on my summer to-do list. Was it a long drawn-out ordeal? I only have one week of summer vacation left...

. :)Just saw a post that I thought would offer an opinion. Others had some not quite so good dealings as well. But thank you for the offer. But someone was looking for speckled sussex on this thread.

Do u think better than Rhode Island Red n Sussex. I'm just learning, so I appreciate any n all advise you guys can give. I have a 400 sq ft dog pen that has a lot of tree cover n was thinking I could put them in a back corner. I'm on an acre but one neighbor is close on one side, n I. Really don't know him, but he is unfriendly n seems like an a-hole. The only good thing is tree cover betwn us. I do know I need the quietest chickens in the world, but produces a lot of eggs. Thx, Sandra

Crap, too many people asking questions!

NPIP...it was relatively easy however it took a few weeks to get ahold of the guy and make the appointment. So I doubt they will be able to get out in the next week! However, it was a short affair. They only test 4 months and older or something like that.....I only had 20 adults, so I had them all caged before the guys got here. Two of them came...one to test and one to hold birds (i think it is usually only the tester). I brought the birds out of the cages 2 at a time, handed one to the holder and then after that one was tested I had them turn it loose where we were standing (in my fenced yard), I would hand the next bird over and then go get 2 more. Took maybe a half hour to an hour tops. Closer to a half hour. Takes about 3 weeks once you send the paperwork in to get your card back. I had my testing done mid june but didnt get around to sending paperwork in until end of June, so just got my card YESTERDAY

Bairo, $10 per pullet if you want 3. 2 blacks for sure, 1 bearded, 1 not bearded. Not sure on who the third would be. Either another black or a buff/black that I have. That buff/black is huge and one of the higher ranked ones in the yard. She stole half a burrito from the top hen today...okay maybe she got chased down and whooped for it, but the fact that she tried shows what she is made of

Here you go. The black in front is the non-bearded girl, the black bearded girl is on the right and the buff (more like brown) and black is in the back middle looking at the camera, not the actual BUFF one near the front. She is small (although you can have her instead if you want). The one who is brown with black markings. BIG girl and very very pretty.

Chicken drop off time is between 10 am and 2pm. I am going along with my mother who will be in state visiting and my 3 year old niece (also known as the cutest kid in the universe). May not get there until noon or 1pm....will know a bit closer to then.
