I would love to find an adult barn cat that is chicken safe (I have bantams and young chicks on the ground almost all the time). I have a horrible mice infestation in my garage/shed area currently. Heard about mixing plaster of paris with cornmeal or chocolate powder......sounds horrible but they are multiplying by the millions it seems. Poison is out of the question because of my dogs.

Moreso than rabbits!!!! My cats dont bother the chickens and they had never been exposed to them till i got the chickens and they were both grown/almost grown and the barn cat >by her choosing< gets pecked in the rear end a lot because they pick on her, but she has been caught sitting side by side with the chickens waiting to be fed LOL

I hope you got said cat fixed now!! My chickens dont chase back..its odd but they are really good at running for their lives! My bostons team up with my moms jack russel so its just easier to keep them in the fence. I might be able to be talked into a kitten tho, you'll have to do some heavy convincing

How's this for convincing?

They're both girls. The one on the left is a lot darker orange now and the one on the right has long hair. They're up to date on their shots and their mom tested negative for leukemia.

They're all weaned and ready to go.

She would probably be fine if raised with them now...but since they are female cats they will probably go broody with your hens LMAO.

LOL now THAT i'd pay to see.

The tabby is an avoider. She would probably be fine with them. The fluffy one kicks my Lhasa-Poo's butt all over the yard. I wouldn't trust her around my banties or babies. She's the cutest, though. Has a big ole pot belly.

Heather, where were you when I was filling out paperwork at the vets? I had to ask what breed and color they were. It was embarrassing! Mama is a domestic short hair pastel calico I learned.

I see I'll have to talk to your stepdaughter. That's how I ended up with the three. My ten-year-old lured pregnant Mama home with her.

Plus, 2 mottled cochin hens. All 3 broody girls have gone broody before, so they should be just fine.

Heather got enough to foster here plus to raise of my own.

I have 3 pommies that have to be protected from the chickens as they are bigger than the dogs a rather old spitz who would chase to no end if he got a chance, just got a german shepard mix to train & work with protecting the chickens. But she has to grow into the job she's 4months old right now. She is really smart 1 inside toileting accident, learned the doggie door in about 10 minutes.Right now we are working on basic obedience which she is learning really fast.
No further chicken loss thank goodness lost 9 in 1 month. When the hawks invaded had abunch of firecrackers scared them right off. Must have been 25 of the suckers. As long as they were in their run or coop they were safe, we have started to letting them free range again while someone is out with them also good training for Gracie the gsd mix, she is afraid of them right now but is learning to be around them. When the hawks invaded I got worried about them carrying off my little Gizzy my 5 lbs pommie. He is my heart & soul I will be lost without him when his time comes no doubt.
Finally got the poodle foster sent to a forever home. He was a puppy mill little guy took alot of work to get him where he would come out of his shell. He had such a strong fear drive. He really stretched my training imagination to get him to do things.
Looking forward to the Nov.in Cocke co. maybe putting faces to names seeing some other chickens ya'll got. All I got is orps & brahmas big ole girls. Most are hatchery stock would like to find a breeder of both.
