That's the way I read it, too. I entered thinking that if I asked for 25 there was a chance that one of them would be a Maran. Finding homes for the other girl chicks wouldn't be too hard, would it?

Nope, I'll take any of them you don't want!

I entered in hopes of just getting more baby chicks! hehe If I win, and end up with Maran chicks you are more than welcome to have them

On another note, got me a BLRW rooster, traded this nice couple an EE pullet for him... I dunno if he's hatchery, but he sure is pretty... got him in a rabbit cage right now in my coop... he looks like the black variety, but almost looked like a really dark blue in the night.. will know more when I get a good look at him tomorrow... can't wait to get BLRW babies!

Yeah! BLRW boy! You've had to wait a long for one of those, haven't you? I like the dark blue and black better than the light blue.

I can't remember if I had them near chickens. Trying to remember if I had chickens in the car with us while he traveled. I can't remember........they were in my laundry room here.

I just booted the black boys out to the bunny barn tonight. You should get one of the blacks for your son! LOL. Or would he rather have a skinny pig?

OK..who has a suggestion for white/pastel egg layers without getting into a loud & flighty like the leghorn. egg production machine please.

I am going to put a couple wels, a couple ee's, and a couple white layers with my del breeding stock and 2 primary del roosters. This way I can tell the diif just by egg color from my del breeders and eating eggs.
Any one up for trading 1 year pullets or pol's for those breeds? I have 2 GLW's (1 is cross beaked), 3 production reds (were supposed to be nhr's, but not), one black cochin All under a year and laying strong. I get 4 eggs a day from these 6 hens now in December. Free Del roo also that will not make breeding program.

Also, bunny info:

I would give free choice pellets for the next few months. Timothy hay is the best. Mixed grass hay would be good too. Avoid alfalfa. I also use the hay cubes as they like to chew on them. But nothing beats fresh loose hay.

They had water dishes here, not bottles. But bottles at the previous home, so probably can do either.

Her lionheads stay small....I would expect yours to be 3lbs or less full grown. 24x24 cage would be fine. 18x24 is okay too, although if you will be keeping a litterbox in there, I would go bigger. Keep treats to a minimum.

I think thats about it. Rabbits are pretty basic. Cage, pellets, hay, water. That's about it. The rest is extra.

White layers? Leghorns, minorcas, andalusians, dorkings.....mostly the flighty breeds. I still like my leghorns and especially my leghorn crosses. You need my leghorn/cochin girl! LOL. She will probably lay a tinted, or light brown egg.

[eta: if you want egg production machine, you need to just resign yourself to the leghorns.....probably white]

Bairo, talk to HappyMtn. She has POL olive eggers that are awesome. There are Wheaten Maran X Wheaten Ameraucanas and Splash Coppers. They are beautiful and have a great attitude. They talk smack to my big orp girls through the quarantine fence. I think I read that she's looking at expanding into black cochins, too.

Edited to correct spelling. It's late, people!

What? No oyster shell or grit? What will I do with my free time?

I overkilled the pen, I guess. It's like 5x2. She has to jump at least four times to get across the thing. Maybe I should add a few more to fill it up... Oh no! I drank the Kool-Aid!

Looks to me like you are going to have to get more rabbits with a pen that large....
