There are a lot of boxes there... multiplied times up to 15 bunnies per birth... You might need another bunny barn!

Ah, lionheads are dwarfs....therefore they have small litters. Normal litter size is 1-4. I have had as many as 7 (4 were dead) and 6 (all alive) with some of the BIG does. Your little doe? Probably would have 3ish.

Oh. They neglected to mention that part on the site I was on. Breeding is a lot less terrifying if you're only dealing with one to four...

I fell in love with another breed. English Angora. I would never own one because you have to brush them and groom them. My mutt will tell you that I'm the worst for scheduling grooming appointments in advance. And these guys DIE when you don't shear them...

If the boy's not neutered would he need his own pen?

ETA: I'm getting ready to do a search but you might beat me to it... How can you tell a Siamese Sable from Black? They look the same to me...

As cute as they are..I still say they are barely even big enough for a good snack

So? That means you just need to have MORE of them...

If boy is not neutered, yes he needs his own pen.

Siamese sable and black look different in person......and much much different as they get older. They start out a muted grayish brown color and then molt into a a siamese cat sort of coloring as they mature (hence the name).

My friend who does dwarfs almost never gets more than 3 or 4 per litter. My smaller does (same line as your girl) have all had 1 to 4 so far. Seems like it is usually 1 to 3. Sometimes 4 or 5 but not usually.

I've been over run with chicks now as it is LOL! This will learn me to hatch in fall/winter I guess. Maybe. Probably not. And of course it looks like I'll have quite a few roos. YAY.

Aww so cute. At one time I was going to buy meat bunnies. But that past when I started calculating costs.

One thing that suprised me though is that nest boxes are way too small for bunnies. I know when I bred my cats, dogs and other animals you always did over twice the size of said animals if not more. From all the one I have seen for bunnies they are not even that for some reason. Breeders complained about deaths and they wonder why. Mother needs more room than her body in box to move around or she will squash the babies. Just some food for thought. Bigger is better for nesting boxes.

Nesting Boxes are small as they only get in to nurse once or twice a day and then back out. They don't spend time in there, like dogs or cats will. They feed the babies and then ignore them the rest of the day.

Daphne, sorry I didn't clarify on the siamese sable. Those pix were of Zippity who is now living with another BYCer. They are just for showing off the color.

The black buck is the best quality so far. The little siamese sable buck of mine who is 5 weeks old.........his ears will probably be too long. Hard to say for now since he is still young though.

I have a pointed white buck that is also 5 weeks old, but he is very light boned and petite....which is not what I like to see in a buck. I want them built like little bulldogs.

It's up to, whichever one you want! LOL. Blacks can go now, siamese sable or pointed white will be at least another few weeks or so before I decide for sure.
