lol yes.. i have still way to many animals or at least kinds of animals for that matter, and it used to be said by my buddy before cutting down to move, that it was time to re build the arch. i have eight in all of my budgies, and trying to cut down to two to four, and not intentionally breeding, but my fav female keeps laying eggs through the grate and getting sick trying to hold them in i think as starting to find her at night in corner laying on bottom of cage, then later she dropped two eggs! so i just last night after last one dropped, put a nest box in so she can lay, as she is not cooperating with my plans of no more budgies, but wasnt wanting to lay year two ago when tried to breed her and had all differant nest boxes out for her! so then aside from three young ones i got a deal on as friends for the newest young budgie rescue, ive not actually tried to get anymore, and would have been happy with just the one original that has the most personality (she is a pistol, and youd swear she was the stereo typical outgoing male budgie if cere wasnt all dark thick crusty red brown and laid eggs). theyre good birds though, just well needing to move and told more than a couple makes me unrentable to as they could be noisy or messy.. yet theyd allow one huge bird like a macaw! was lookin into moving back to sevierville/gatlinburg at time recently, but maybe sadly knox now. theyre all young and healthy, two just starting to try to breed at that age were cere are turning, and two got with the one on deal, real young and still all tiny and pink cere still (though i love the look and personality of the one so much!!!).

i cant even give the dove away that needs friends or a mate to good home, when for a while people on here were looking for more ringnecks.. she is just seeming to be nutty and depressed on own, and i dont want to let her get by the pigeons though, and clipped her wings so cant let her out to free fly by wild ones especially in cold, unless plucked clipped feathers to let them grow back quick.

oh yeah, BOP are getting really aggressive and coming right up to homes to take chickens, pigeons, cats small dogs etc, even heard of them trying to get at caged birds (and the one or two smashed into my window and pigeon cages out under balcony canopy), so watch your chooks etc if they seem to be trying to hide or are getting stuck under things etc as they maybe getting chased around by hawks, as well hearing foxes, stray cats, dogs are all getting bold as well and taking from people and friends. i had a blad eagle just getting its white head feathering a bit back even! hope this isnt a sign of a bad late winter coming in.. my cat isnt usually phased by anything, and she has been watchful of hawks etc even, and staying in at key times. im only flying my pigeons in evening now when do and they dont go any were except the one, as he went off after a sharp shinned hawk one morning that came up, and was gone worrying me for at least half hour after they were out of side and sound of mine wing slapping and cooing at it. i hadnt noticed hawks around in a while, and had put out some nest boxes (old newspaper holders that go under the mail boxes on poles), and was going to just let my males that not wanting to breed and so are just causing issues, out to fly free and make mock nests, but now not sure i want to risk it with them being out on the better hunting days and times for hawks, just yet.. time to make those little light weight thumb tac studded harnesses to see if theyd protect my pigeons! lol

Contrast - under the pets section as well, someone has Austrailian shepherds for $50... dunno if they're pure or not since only one has docked tail, but they're 10-12 weeks old... one boy and one girl.. just if you're interested

never tried, why would you dry incubate? Doesn't the egg need the moisture? My luck I'd get cooked eggs...

I had a 95 % hatch rate this afternoon compared to my 60% that I had last month, I use a little giant bator. I only added water on day 19 just to get humidity up to 30% after the chicks started to hatch the humidity started to rise on Its own

Happy 2012 everyone!!

I have a buddy that over ordered and needs to rehome some chickens. I told her I'd mention it here to see if any of y'all were interested. These are from McMurray and are 5 months old. She would like to sell them in pairs, but would probably consider selling just the girls since her hubby is pretty handy at processing. She has an EE pair and 2 RIR pair. She also has a single NH pullet.

Just PM me and I'll pass along her contact info if you are interested.

Wow that is a great hatch rate! Congratulations!
