anyone have or breed wild/black type Muscovy ducks? just curious for future, and maybe want to try to raise some (maybe even test my bator).. what requirements in incubation and so on do they require differant then chickens and pigeons. the one trampled thrown out rescue i had, loved to hang with the pigeons mostly, and chickens, though the one kind of game hen i decided never to hatch from, used to try to eat it, before seperated those hens, as silkies seemed to love to fight over trying to brood it, even one i thought was roo (another question do silkie roos go broody from the breeding of being so parental???)..

on another note, the babies of the one albino mother, who is very talkative 9apparently strange for female budgies), are starting to try to talk as theyre starting to feather out. ill have to try not to have any cursing around them.. lol these ones are het for albino, not sure if good or bad but mama is and is healthy, but most are bright deep aquamarine, i think that was the color a friend called them, i just say ocean blue.. lol oh and that late bouncing baby budgie is now doing great it seems, and mamma and papa are keeping its crop nice and stuffed, and growing and doing oddly fine with its baheamoth siblings (it stays preferably wiggled at bottom of pile or in corner, and not sure ho its not injured or dead from that alone, aside from injury at "hatching"). it and the rest being handled and most come out for attention and non so far as seen are nippers or scared, though one from other nest is biter already, and another a screamer, but taming down too.

Glad that the late hatchling is doing well, we have two parakeets and I always heard before we got them that they were a great pet, these two absolutely hate being held and will bite nonstop. Mine, I bought from a bird store in knoxville which is a male, the other which is a female, was given to us because the neighbors kid got tired of it. they do sing though and can say a couple words. I much prefer my amazon though, he doesnt bite lol.

@110Organic - these are all the TN breeders who've registered with that site, I would be be careful about cheap rabbits on CL since you never know what you're getting. Though breeders have had diseases go through their rabbitry they usually stand behind their animals health. Before buying any rabbit, make sure to ask the breeder whether they stand behind their rabbits. I know I would refund or replace any rabbit I sale from my barn if the said rabbit develops symptoms within a certain amount of time and as long as I believe it really could have been sick before sale. Like the black mini rex buck I bought had some eye gunk when I bought him and the seller told me to keep her up to date to make sure it wasn't just her poking him in the eye. Anyway, the list has more meat breeds near the bottom of the list.

x2...there is one in NC as well I contacted last year when I was trying to do to many things at once. I am right there with you as far as getting started on meat rabbits (still from last year). Its a bit difficult to find anything other than New Zealands and California whites....Ive had a couple people tell me that even supposed pure New Zealands now have California blood and vice versa. Which is really ok if they are just for meat anyway, I guess.

March 24, May 12 and June 2 are my planned show dates!

I think barnqueen is trying to get something for the 31st or 1st. She was having trouble getting thru to the department that handles reservations, last I heard.
Are you guys not doing Knoxville?

Knoxville? You mean the chicken show? I'm going to rabbit shows, not chicken, unless there is a get together since it's so close. bairo, if you want to get started with rabbits I'm willing to let someone who will use the little d'argent buck I got for breeding for meat have him, he's just so cute! I was just gonna put him in the freezer, but if he's a use to someone else... I got him free so I don't mind letting someone else baby him, he's only 8 weeks old!

Now to find a female Creme and a couple of new zealands.

I have to be up near Mountain City the rest of the week....but Ill do what ever it takes to get him ASAP if you can keep him for a bit longer for me. I'll even bring you some rabbit food (what are you using). I still have not heard from barnqueen on a date for the picnic, but if that is too long a wait...I will come to you guys to get him.

No biggie! I feed Pen Pals, I'll have plenty to feed him until you can come get him! He's not taking up any cage that I need right now. He's a little cutie, I brought him and my new mini lop doe in last night so no frozen bunnies! You'll love him!

Just make sure you have a set up for him! Oh, I'm not going to get out of chickens, rabbits are just a bit more fun and easier.
