Who could not love a face like that!? I'm talking to a few people on CL about some chi's. Hope one seems to fit into our home!

Doing great. I think she might be up to a whole pound! Even "I" like her and Lucy, and I hate small dogs ;) Harley has grown attached as well.

It looks like my broodie took to the bator chicks just fine. She fluffed up and pecked at me when I went back to check on them just a little while ago. Woot! No brooder lights for us.

Stang, did the Marans ever show back up?

Edited to correct "brooder" to "broodie" 'cause they're totally different things...

My BCM broody has 3-4 days left. Mammie is sitting on 12 eggs! She is on lock down and growls at me when I change her water or just check on her! She has pecked me a few times. My BO was a sweet mama she just softly clucked at me. She started laying eggs again. They are so small on the low end of med. She was a jumbo layer. I'm sure they will get bigger again unless she goes broody again. Which brings me to the statement. I still have a bunch of Olive Egger 5-6 week olds cockerels and pullets as well as BCM cockerels. The chicken math was bad this year. I hatched out about 70 so far this year. I have a pretty even split of boy/girl. Last year I had 38 chicks and only 7 pullets out of the bunch! So with that in mind I went over board.

Blu My EE with some blue EE Olive eggers to be

the one cockerel is showing a nice copper head at 6 weeks.

hey y'all! newbie here! we have just finished up our chicken tractor & will be heading to the poultry show tmr in hopes of getting a few pullets. anyone here going to have anything available? i'm looking for some good egg layers---maybe RIRs, orphingtons, easter eggers? i would like to get a silkie too. we just want to get 3 hens to get started. i live in knox co & i'm a librarian (in case you were wondering where librarychicken came from). lots of great info on this forum has helped me get started on keeping chickens! where do y'all purchase your food?

Yes, I did find my Maran (or as my husband was calling it, "moron") she was trying to get into the run the next morning, stupid thing. I had to catch her, she got tangled in some overgrown weeds making her capture easier.

librarychicken - welcome! I'm sure there will be plenty people bringing chickens to the show Saturday. Maybe someone will bring name tags and make it easy for other BYCers to find us, most of us know each other now.

What show is in in Knox? That's about 1 1/2-2 hours away. I have about 40 or so chicks to sale. And more to hatch on tues. Chickens gone wild down here. One gets done with a batch a new one goes broody. I only have 11 hens 1 roo. And last count 58 4-6 week olds as well as 12 eggs. BCM and Blue EE Olive eggers.
