You always have the local co-op and tnbarnqueen can tell you about a place she uses in Morristown that she likes. Decent prices over there also.
That would be Morristown Milling. I get Hubbard brand there in 2 different proteins. I think it runs me a little over $12. They have their Purina on sale right now too. They also have some other brands I want to try such as game feed. They can also usually special order too. For those who do not know it...if you sell over $1000 a year you can apply for a tax exempt through the government. I know a lot of you don't in chickens but if you have other livestock...like my horses..that is all added together.

I was in there Monday and you would not believe how full the shelves are of chicken supplies. A division rep. happen to be there and I got to meet him. I expressed my appreciation on having more products and how much I was sure those in our area would appreciate his efforts and corperates response. He is still working on medical products. Also he wants to start having the monthly farm day for those of us who want to bring chickens to sale and he could do advertising which I think was one downfall of the 1 they tried.. So...those of you who go into the morristown store...the managers name is Jake. Please if you see him or ask for him... tell him thank you and also offer suggestions of future products. I was very impressed that he actually listened to me. So....please let him know it was appreciated and buy a few things!!!
I know that The Kingsport TSC has a show/sale 10 months out of the year.
Have been a couple of times but it is SO far to drive.

Would be nice to have a monthly show/sale closer to home.

That is outstanding TNBarnqueen.

Hopefully the new TSC here in Jonesborough will follow suit and stock more on their shelves.

As of now, I buy just about everything from them, including dog food now, because of their location and the better business hours that they keep in comparison to Washington County Farmers Coop.

Also a question on poultry behavior, has any one ever saw a hen or pullet pick up dead dried leaves and put them one her back as she was walking through and area?

When they slide off, she will just pick up another one and continue on her way.

I have never seen this before.

Something new everyday in the world of poultry.

Some of my hens do it right before they lay their egg...they will pick up straw or shavings and keep putting on their back. My partridge SG is soooo funny when she lays an egg. She does this little shimmy thing and out it pops!

I have found if you want to get rid of unwanted roosters put a FREE ad on Craigslist & people crawl out of the woodwork.

So by the end of this weekend I should be back down to where I can start building up again

Now if we can just get started on the new coop I would be set.

Hey all, I am in Ooltewah, just north of Chattanooga. I am desperately
barnie.gif
looking for some BANTAM COCHINS (any colors but balck & barred) Does anyone know any good, quality breeders? Want some so bad actually ordered 15 from hatchery but got cold feet/second thoughts and cancelled order, but I didn't realize it was going to be so hard to find some locally or even day olds to order other than the big hatcheries. My current ones are @ 3 months, would love some @ same age but would consider younger and slightly order.
At this point I would be willing to travel up to a couple of hours if I can find someone that has some beautiful birds.

Hoping you guys/gals can help me - thanks Stacy

Hello everyone on the East side I have 3 Barnevelder cockerels if anyone wants them. They are not culls but I have a very nice blue barnevelder that I have chosen for breeding. Just let me know if anyone is interested. Thanks

Craigs list is a good place to find homes for your chickens but I would advise asking a few questions from the ones who want them. This is the reason...I am not saying don't put an ad there but just beware. I have run across a couple of people who get them and also buy them cheap from the Morristown auction. They then take them to the Flea Market that weekend which is fine but....it is what these 2 do to some of them that is heartbreaking. One week they had some roosters they had gotten. One was a pure white Auacuana I would have loved to have. But it and few others had been freshly dubbed and the job they did dubbing them was horrible I honestly think they done it with a pocketknife. I was horrified when I saw them...I kept trying to decide whether to say something or keep my mouth shut...I just walked away cause I did not want to cause a scene..but...this is why we have to be careful. Glad you found good homes for them littlechicklet.
