Whew..now Im finally caught up, I wanted to welcome all the new folks!! Rather your just new to our group or new to chickens period...Welcome!!
When I found BYC I was surprised there was a general tn group, and a west and middle group, but no eastern group!! I mean REALLY? I live in Cocke County for goodness sakes, LOL There are some chicken keepin folks around here! So I started this little thread mainly just so I could meet a few people and have a resource for info and of course new chicks. I figured I might get maybe 20 people to join and that was ok with me...Well that was feb 8th, 2011 and now we are up to 6,579 replies with 90,548 views
Lord I wish I knew how many members, but it's a lot more than I ever imagined

Every one of us just love to answer questions and help out our fellow chicken lovers. So please don't ever be shy around us or afraid to ask a question. We may get busy and "rarely" if the forum is really active, we may even overlook your question. But please don't give up...just ask again or even PM me. I promise that one of us has gone through whatever it is and can offer at least a small bit of advice or how we handled it.
So here are my official welcome banners....We hope you enjoy our little corner of BYC!!

Thanks for the heads up on the dates. I am thinking the 20th or 21st. I know the Knoxville little show is on the 20th, but I am also a little nervous about getting there on the 21st after church and finding the spot taken.... So I am voting the 20th early lunch and someone (

) will volunteer (lol) to be there early for signs and to try and hold it for us. But I want to go with the majority vote.

Can we please all vote on Saturday or Sunday October 20th or 21st for our groups cookout and fellowship please

I heard AJ say he was keeping tabs on the # of votes.....so don't worry about that. (Man I have got good hearing)

Is anyone going to the show in Knoxville on Oct.20?
Not me this time, I went last year and was not that enthused with it. I think they will grow that one though and it might turn out to be a nice big one. Not that is was small (especially for last year being the first year I think) Maybe it was just me? I did notice a few things with the silent auction I did not like though ( some whispered conversations on who was going to win a couple of the prizes)

Thanks for the info tnchickenet - I call and see what they have. I wanted 'outside ready' hens as I don't have a place inside to keep little chicks. No, I don't have to have the high class or high quality chickens, it's more important to me that they are able to be handled. My son is really looking forward to that. I know the timing is bad, but thought I'd start here instead of craigslist. :)
Very good idea starting here first. BYC has (looking for a polite way to say this) more (still thinking) chicken lover types verses CL that has more flippers (grrrr) and old timers who just don't know to care better for their birds.

What show? I want to get out of the house and Knoxville is too uppity for my face right now (sorry K-town, but you all know it is true

)

Local to me is too close... people are either rude or heard all about my accident through the grapevine and heard I was dead and then look at me like I'm a zombie and or alien... I don't like it either way.

So far, Maryville, you are the nicest to me and my disfigurement. Keep in mind, I haven't been everywhere (haven't been much of anywhere) but if this was one of those "Fat for a day" type social experiements, K-town would fail miserably and Maryville would get a solid b+.

Long story short... I might go to a show seeing how chicken shows don't usually get filled with plastic people like Turkey Creek types. Am I offending anyone? I have a habit of doing that unintentionally.

I would be glad to keep tabs on votes.

Remember the signs I designed after the last picnic.
Well I was asking a price on them and somehow she thought I wanted them so she went ahead and made two.
The price is low enough that I will go ahead and get them so it will help us find each other.

The will look similar to this:

Results for date for picnic.
Will update as votes come in.
October 27 and 28 are going to be bad days because of Halloween parties.

October 13th Morristown TSC is having sale day.

So that leaves: Votes

Sunday 10/14

Saturday 10/20 One

Sunday 10/21

Any day is good. One

Voters: Bario, Talbott Poultry (AJ)

Quote: Tn Valley club really grew from a couple years ago and put together a show. Last year they really pounded the advertising and turn out was about as big as cocke county. So it may end up going places? Although I was slightly "under-impressed", I have to give them credit since it was the first one. Stang was there as well.

The one I met when I got those dels from you at Newport. I wish Kim and I were closer to you to lend you a hand around the place...

I might try it depending on how I look and if anyone is off to go with me. Just to look, not to show. Too much to do when showing.

All I can say online is this: I was in a industrial accident at work. I got sucked into a machine and to keep the nasty details out... I'm seeing a plastic surgeon. Meanwhile I'm out of work and bored stiff, with a face only a mother can love. (I joke... it's a coping mechanism). Yes, I have help around... that was Kim you met. Not your Kim... you know her already... this Kim. lol. My mother helps with the bird chores too... they are getting better treatment then every actually. Since I'm not worried about pure eggs right now I'm turning them all loose daily... all together. It makes me happy to see them all out in the grass anyways. It also makes me realize how many birds I have. lol.

So, I'll be bothering ya'll alot more and then one day I will be busy again... maybe... who knows. Doesn't look like it will be soon by the way it went today at the doc... nothing they can't fix these days though.
