Throwing this out there for any close to me.
I have some black AUSTRALORPS for sale. They are eight weeks old. I bought eggs to hatch with the intention of just wanting a couple hens. I ended up with 8. To be honest I still can not really tell which are girls or boys but will take a guess at a couple to keep.
Asking $5.00 a piece or take six for $20.00
So, if interested holler back.

No pictures of them yet but can get some tomorrow.
thanks all

p.s. if interested, might decide to let a couple bantam cochins cockerals go too - don't really want to BUT the ratio is getting out of wack

I really am having a hard time passing this up. I want to say, though, (so someone else takes the pressure off by snatching them) Australorps are a great breed. I used to breed them for a short window of time but they were part of the downsizing. I will add I paid $9/a chick for day olds... so $5 each is a great deal! AHHHHH darn it!!! I'm trying my best to not say "I'll take them" AHHHHH I still have some of the hens from them because I couldn't bring myself to part with them all. And others I only let go to a dear friend. They are up there on my list of great breeds to have. AHHHHHH!!! Darn you!!!

Well come on, you know you want them! LOL
but thanks for the indorsement. What you said about them is exactly why I wanted a couple to add in with our laying hens. I wish I could keep all but after building 4 LARGE coops/pens since June the hubbie says no more and I'm trying to stay focused on the other breeds i've chosen to focus on to breed. Glad the price is reasonable because yes, if I keep until spring I will for sure ask way more.

hehe - if you can't resist you know where to find me

Yeah and I'm only 35/40 minutes from you. AHHHHH!!! lol

I'm wondering how many boys you got in the mix. (Angel on shoulder: "Stop, you know you said no new breeds" Devil: "Its not a NEW breed, you had them before. Remember how nice they were and how many eggs they laid?" Angel: "Don't listen to him, you don't need more birds right now will all that is going on, plus you have those chicks.".......) AHHHHHH!!!!

haha - I know too well about those angel vs. devils!
I'm going to the bantam show in Dalton the saturday after Thanksgiving with the intention of finding a couple or so SQ bantam cochin pullets/hens but I know I'll be eyeing all the other breeds. Should be a good showdown but the angel has one additional weapon...$$$$$$$

I can try and get some pics tomorrow & maybe everyone on here can help me try and determine what sex. Don't some of the hens have a tendency to have slighlty larger combs/waddles than say other breeds? At least that is what I've seen from pictures I've looked at.

Yes... they are one of those breeds who have big comb girls. Where did you get the hatching eggs? (so I can google them)

I bet Stang snaps these up. I happen to know she has two 'lorps already. And that is a great deal.

I am pondering the pork-as-protein thing. I know that it's closer to what a chicken would eat in the wild than soy, but I can't help but think that sunflower seed or peas are better.

Bairo, when you win the lottery, sign me up as your first feed customer. Better yet, if I win the lottery, I can buy the $50 / bag stuff and not worry about it. AND I could buy a nice boat, too!

I caught an opossum tonight. I went out side and saw a juvenile in the kitty kennel helping itself to some cat food. I just sidled up and closed the door. Now the question is... what do I do with it?!

The only way Stang is snapping these up is if someone wants to have the bantam cochins I have! LOL I am not needing more mouths to feed!

It's probably better that I don't see pictures. You know how I love my little Bob. And she would love some fellow OEGB, I'm sure.

Oh yeah, we are getting bob some friends... you just give it until Spring... These are SO PRETTY. I wasn't leaving without them. I will get them for sure tomorrow. I got to get you drooling.

How is bob? You should put pics up of her. My OEGB flock went broody before I gave them all but a couple to a friend. So I kept one mother (they all were sitting and rotating shifts) and one baby... the baby turned out to look almost pure silver duckwing. I'll get pics of her too... then you will really have a bob moment. ;)
