Ok, a couple different things I'm going to touch on and make it into one post (hopefully).

Amy - I agree with Stacy (tnchickenut) about the scent stuff... I don't litter train mine but know it's possible.. make sure the pan is big enough for them to start with, the bigger the better, then try to use a small portion of their dirty litter and leave some clean in it.. I'm kinda unsure as to how you've got it set up... but it could be you'll never litter train them, mini rex have their own ideas and if they are does.. some breeds and sexes are harder than others, and then you have to realize all rabbits have their own personalities!

Now, here is what we got accomplished today on the hoop coop for growing the chicks out in... we framed it up and added the fencing wire.

Oh, and I was getting discouraged about my eggs not having done anything yet and I've got a pip! It's barely talking to us though, I'm soo used to the talkative ones! Anyway, it's an orpington egg! YAY!
Congrats Stang!! The hoop coop is looking great.

I want to wait til spring to use my greenhouse but I keep looking out there and thinking...wow..all that nice space!! But It will have to wait. I am going to set my silkies up in divided pens.Reg. on one side and Show Girls on the other. It is really nice with them cause you can put a 3 1/2 fence up and they stay in!!
I caught another predator the other night....pitiful..a mouse tried to eat the bait which set the trap off...mouse got away but it is not tailless cause that part was in the trap!!!!

Hi,
I joined BYC yesterday (long intro posted yesterday on new member thread)

I'm in TN between Dunlap & Fall Creek Falls

I've subscribed to the middle TN thread but can I join this one too? I mean we run our clocks on Eastern time being near Chattanooga ;>

I'm hoping to get in on the NYD hatch a long w/ a homemade bator we are building this wk.
My hens are not laying atm, so I must find some hatching eggs!
I have a poss. option on some Duck eggs but I understand they are more difficult so I think chicken would be safer as a 1st try on new 'bator.

Anyone local-ish to me have fertile chicken eggs available ?

Thanks
FeyRaine

I'm new to TN, but I know Fall Creek Falls. That is the most gorgeous area I have seen since I moved here. But unsure about Dunlap. Will have to look that one up. Welcome.

Stang and Ch nut, thank you. Very good advice. Didn't even think it was going to be a problem. They are in a hutch with a pull out tray. Their litter box is the type you buy at TSC. I will pull out their tray today, clean it and put some of their poop in the litter box. I would hate to have to spank their little bunny bottoms.

Tommy got our new coop framed. We ran out of sunlight after I got the frame stained white and tan. He's off Monday so we'll jump back on it then. But I am pretty stoked about this one because we are getting better at it the more we build. Plan on doing the coop and run I want in the spring. Hopefully by then, we'll be experts. (or we'll kill each other)

Love that you are hearing the chics peeping today Stang. And Tnbarnqueen, I hate that for you. I haven't ever hatched. How do you know if you have a good batch before you invest?

Welcome to our little group Fey..I am very familiar with Fall Creek Falls. Sometimes we go through there going to Grundy Co. It is very beautiful! Just pop in anytime you like!

I personally think ducks are easier to hatch. I mist mine once every other day and usually get way more hatching than I want. ;) Just remember, it takes them 28 days... not 21.

ETA: I forgot my manners..... WELCOME!

One of the orpington chicks finally decided it was time to come out! I only have one other pip and that's a Swede egg... so, looks like I got 2 chicks out of 23 eggs!
