Ya, there's supposed to be thunderstorms here soon, too. Nothing yet...

It's died down here. We got a really good down pour. Lots of lightening!

I'm entering my three BLRW bantam pullets in the fair this year. It seems that Wyandottes are kind of popular in this part of the world!

However, there are only very rarely any other Wyandottes in the Walla Walla fair. The last two years there has only been the occasional SL standard.

Good luck at the fair! When is Walla Walla's fair?

We just started getting eggs last week. We have four black sex-linkes cross girls, and are up to three eggs a day already. They have been acting really funny with the "egg squat" mentioned earlier for a while, so I knew it wouldn't be long. It was so rewarding to check the nest boxes and find two eggs that first day. We already have more eggs than we usually use, even though they are a bit smaller than the store-bought ones. We got a larger double yolker yesterday. So Exciting!
congratulations, BonnieLass!!

We got rain near Dixie too, a little rain and a lot of lightning. Watched 3 wild fires into the night to make sure they weren't headed in our direction. The biggest was right on the horizon, about 7-10 miles away, at least 1/2 mile wide and completely dwarfed the fire trucks. It was not in the news though, so I am hoping that meant no homes or people hurt. Can't wait until the roof is on the house so it is a little more immune to weather! We had puddles on the subfloor in the morning. It is so exciting to see our dream taking shape. Now to rest my aching muscles from all of the fencing we have been doing!
Our cat got to one of my Legbar pullets...somehow hooked her through the chicken wire and pulled her up to where it decapitated her. So sad. What a waste! Luckily all the others escaped and are doing well. Moved them into my tractor with hardware cloth sides. No cats getting through that!
I can't wait until we are done fencing and building patios so that I can build my new coop...big enough for ALL the birds and SAFE! I feel like the summer is racing away.
Happy Fair season everyone!
