Eastern Washington

I have the Aslin-Finch price list...

Cornish cross(st run): 1.59
RIR: 2.79
Bantam (no breed, st run): 2.79
GSL: 2.79
BSL: 2.79
EE: 2.79
BO: 2.79
BR: 2.79
SLW: 2.79
LB: 2.79

They aren't getting EE's in at the North side store until mid-April. But, I do know they are getting SLW & BR in on March 16...I have mine already paid for.

Found my peeps here! Yay, but oh man did I just blow it? I got so caught up in the getting of my chicks that I didn't think straight!! I got 4 chicks from Big R North Spokane and Valley stores and just realized that I bought and 80% chance of roosters! I live in town.

I thought the breeds would be sexed and now an acquaintance tells me they are not. I bought Buff Orpingtons, Black Australorp and Barred Rock.

It's just a waiting game at this point eh?

I bought 8 straight run chicks from the Trent Big R last year and 3 were girls. So that's better than 80% if that gives you any hope!
If you do have cockerels you could try selling or giving them away via Craigslist. Someone may want a BO, BA or BR roo, and other people will take cockerels to grow out as meaties.

Very nice. Glad folks are finding some nice chicks!

I'm on day 18 of incubation... lockdown day! All 6 remaining seem viable (4 were infertile). Should have some chicks this weekend! Pretty excited.

I'm also looking to get some meaties to raise this summer. So I am glad to see Aslin-Finch carries CX... cause I only want a dozen and would prefer not to ship them.

llnmaw: good luck with your chicks! I noticed at Big-R that they had a few breeds marked pullets... so they were all sexed and should be females. But aside from the color-sex-linked breeds... your chicks would be straight runs with both pullets and roos.

Let me know if you need to give away any that turn out to be roos. I can take them off your hands. But don't ask what I'm going to do with them.

pips&peeps :

Does everyone still have electricty?

Hope everyone is ok, this is a nasty day. I don't think any of my animals will be out with this wind.

Hi Neighbor,
My side of the lake (East Newman) still has power. Very gusty day indeed.

Cheers!

I know you are on your last few days of incubation, so if you loose power let me know. I have generators and ups in my chick room.

I also have a bunch of non standard chicks.

This morning was horrible! Just two weeks ago I removed the thick layer of plastic sheeting that had covered my run, to prevent snow drifts from blowing inside. When it was 50 degrees in almost mid February, I was feeling spring fever. I should have known better! This morning, I went out at 7:30, and the entire run was filled with about 2 feet of snow. My poor girls couldn't leave the Eglu "cave" to access their food or water. It was all under snow! There is still a pretty good sized tarp over the run, but wind blew all the snow in anyway. The girls did not look happy at all. I dug them out, and dug a path to the back patio, but I don't think they're interested in being out in the elements at all. The wind is fierce here!

How disappointing! It was so wonderfully springish, now there's 5 inches of snow. No wind here, yet.
Is anyone in Eastern Wa going to the Stevenson show in April?
