Eastern Washington

I posted this question in the "Big WA" thread but thought I would post it here as well. When would be a good time to start hatching babies out with their momma? I hatch "all-naturally" and would like everyones opinions on when would be a good time to start? I want to let Blondie hatch out a batch sometime this year and she is wantin some bad now.
Do it now, she knows what shes doing. I have used just a cardboard box with lots of whatever you use in your nest box. Leave a good space at the top so she can hideout.

Roy,

Google "washington feather fanciers". They have three or four shows a year, all on the West side. County and state fairs usually have small poultry shows.

The next Washington Feather Fanciers show is Saturday March 16th in Monroe, WA. I know of several BYCers who will be there. In fact, there will most likely be a pot-luck :)

See you there!

Dave
There are two shows on the West Side put on by the PNPA too. One in April and one in October.

There are also two more shows in Montana, one in Hamilton the first week in May and one in Great Falls, the first week of October. These are put on by the Rocky Mountain Poultry Assn.

I can find it cheaper elsewhere too - but I like the idea behind Restore.

Well, I have started collecting eggs for Blondie to hatch. Im gonna put them under her tonight if she decides to use the crate i put in the coop where her bucket usually is. I want to give her a little more room than her bucket allows. Lets hope she likes her new nest crate and wants to hatch some babies in it.

Hi all! Thought I would check it out here, the big WA thread moves FAST! I'm located in Spokane and currently have a hodge podge of all different breeds in my flock, and 14 Ameracaunas on the way!

Thanks Dave :) Ive been seeing everyone else with chicks but most are hatching them indoors. I want to give Blondie some babies and have her hatch them herself to see how she does for being a young hen. I better get to stripping down my chicken coop and run and building her own special nest box :) Im thinking about putting a dozen eggs under her since she is still laying pullet sized eggs, I want to give her a few of her momma's eggs and maybe a few of her own to see how she does :)

DO IT, DO IT!!! Bought some BR and EEs at Finley Shopper last week and broke down and did Chick Day at Basin today. I went a bit crazy and got 3 meaties, 2 turkey poults, 3 ducklings, and 2 goslings...I NEED PROFESSIONAL HELP!

Hi everyone- I am a chicken newbie! I am building a coop this weekend and looking to get 4-5 chickens soon! I am wondering where to find 4-6 month old pullets in the Spokane/CDA area? I am interested in Orpingtons, Wyandotte, Plymouth Rocks, Rhode Island Reds, and or Sussex (and open to suggestions on other breeds)

Any suggestions on local breeders etc for young layer pullets? Although cute (and I bet fun), I would like to skip the brooding of chicks phase-- maybe next year. . .
Thanks for any input!
