I have a double decker 4x4x8 brooder I built for the chicks. I will try to post a pic later.

I can a lot of stuff. I also started my plants in the greenhouse in February so they are already about 2 feet tall.

Vicki, the garden this year will get whatever I have time for! I am thrilled to have more space as I thought I'd have to just add to it next year. I was only hoping to get enough room to put my asparagus, rhubarb and raspberries that I have in pots from my old garden. Now that we do have the extra space I'd love to get some tomatoes in (that means I need to start seeds TODAY) and I'm not sure what else yet. I think this year I will finally give up growing that which is cheap and plentiful at farmers' markets/Costco. That means no carrots or potatoes. I want to use the space to grow things that you can't buy easily. I also am not sure if I have enough frost free days yet for winter squash but I might give it a try. We had ooodles of time in Wenatchee but I'm not sure about here yet.
Yes, it is our first year with goats. That's funny about the escaping. We will electrify our new fence as I have read that no matter how good of a fence you build they will escape/destroy it over time. I do LOVE goats, tho. Milk is great and they are really clean animals when you compare them to cows. The does don't stink like the bucks, either!
Have a good trip to Costco. I am headed to the one in East Wenatchee today, too.

BTW, anyone one on here have ducks? If you do, I'd love to see what you have for housing. I am reading that they are hardier than chickens and am considering some options for their accommodations...

I just registered as a member this morning and so happy to have found this - I'd love to be a part of the Eastern Washington group! I live in Spokane Valley. We started with 8 chickens last year and this week added 2 baby Swedish ducks to our family!

My 102 chicks came this morning!!! Until it started raining, we were out cutting firewood. Now we are stuck inside doing laundry and repotting 50 tomato plants.

Tsk tsk -- you should have ordered 101 chickens from Dalmatia.

Was at your local Costco today and couldn't believe how windy it was...felt more like Ellensburg. I loaded some stuff into my truck, turned around, and the cart was gone! Holy crap, there it went, heading for a car. I ran fast and caught it just in time. At least it wasn't raining though. Oh, coming down the I-82 hill by the vinyards, the kittitas valley is so gorgeous! Really green and lush. I didn't run into rain until I hit Thorp. Glad Costco wraps the toilet paper in plastic!

tawbeck, We're glad you found our place, too. I found it about a month ago, and it's been fun. I'm so new to chickens that I don't even have any yet, but I'm still hopeful that I'll have the coop and run finished up by the time the chicks get here mid June. I've ordered Brahma chicks, and I'm just hoping they're as sweet as I've heard. What kind of chickens do you have?
