I'd like to know where this information could be located as I can find no reference in the Spokane County ordinances that refer to chickens......

There's a thread or two over in the ordinance's topic...but for my own knowledge I just googled Spokane ordinances until I found what I needed within the city limits. It's all very technical jargin and hard to read/understand (on purpose, I'm sure).

If you already know the zone you are in, go here:

http://www.spokanecounty.org/bp/data/Documents/ZoneCode/TOC.pdf

On the left, scroll down to zone classifications and click on "rural" since you know you're in a rural conservation zone.

Then you will see the rural zones matrix on the right. On the list where you see "Animal raising and/or keeping", it will list whether it is not permitted, "N", permitted on a limited basis "L", or permitted as a condition use "C"

Scrolling down below the matrix, you will eventually see the specific "limits" placed on animal keeping in your zone.

Yep... Mrsbos is spot on. That's the online pdf that details the different zoning classifications and what's permitted or not.

I could not find anywhere online that told me which zone class I was in, so I called the county zoning. Based on my address/parcel# they were able to tell me.

You're probably also zoned Rural-Conservation... since you live adjacent to the lake. Might give county zoning a call (5o9)477-72oo.

You know Spring is "in the air" when... the chicks start showing up in mass!

Big-R on Trent (Spokane Valley) got in their first chicks of the season, yesterday(15th). I stopped by today (16th) and checked them out.

I saw brooders for each of these types (as best I can remember):
Black Australorps
Black Sex Links (pullets)
Barred Rock
White Leghorns (all gone or not in this order)
Golden Sex Links (all gone or not in this order)
RIR
Araucana
New Hampshire Red (pullets)
Sebright
a few different Bantam varieties

Was tough not taking some home... but I got 10 eggs on day 11 in the bator at home!

Oh man....Aslin Finch in the Valley is getting chicks on the 24th. I have a coop that's just big enough for the 3 EEs that I have---and they're not even "legal". I so want to go see all the chicks, but don't know if I should torture myself---I'll want to get more so badly!!! I'd love some cuddly buff orpingtons!

That's odd to me that the one in the Valley is getting chicks in almost a month before the one on the North side! I already have my order in, so I can't bring anymore home...but so tempting!

I really wanted some EE's, but they said they weren't getting any until mid-April! The NH Red's are another one I seriously considered...I'm already planning ahead for next year though...I finally found my property size, and have room to legally have 5 hens...so maybe next year I can add a few more.

That would stagger the length of time before they all become "just pets" too.
