@frogdog Believe me, I jumped on the "Spokane Area Chicken Ordinances" facebook page months ago! I showed up at Spokane Valley City council meetings to advocate backyard chicken legalization even though I don't live within city limits. When chickens finally got the green light in the Valley, I thought I had it made and that the pro-chicken momentum would push through the county level as well. That's when the problems with my neighbor surfaced. Based on some of her recent facebook posts, I think she has called the county on me. I don't know how swiftly the county operates when they get a complaint that someone has illegal chickens, so I'm making this announcement here (somewhat prematurely) before I resort to Craigslist:
FREE TO LOVING CHICKEN HOME, THREE 8 MONTH OLD, BEAUTIFUL, HEALTHY, EXCELLENT PASTEL BLUE & GREEN EGG LAYING EE PULLETS. GREENACRES, WA
Below is Touhou, our golden colored EE
This diaper wearing chicken is Chickie, our most affectionate chicken
I'll post a picture of Fluffy soon. She has the same coloring as Chickie, but is not as affectionate. She lays the blueish egg.
I'm not ready to part with them yet, but am trying to make sure they'll have a place to go should I get a citation from the county. If I can't find anyone on this forum who wants them, I'll try to sell them on Craigslist. Not sure if I should post this on the Washington board since most those folks are westsiders. Honestly, if I had a place that would process them, I would eat them (and just not tell the kids). I would feel better "eating" my 8 months of investment, than just letting them go for a few bucks to strangers off Craigslist. I've never tasted farm fresh, free range, grass fed chicken before.
I swear, someday soon I'm going to have acreage, and can't wait to welcome a whole box full of cute fuzzy butts!
