Easy Turning w/out an Auto Turner...

Thanks all!

Nifty, it hasn't effected the performance at all...but it could cause problems if people filled the water wells in the bottom and then tipped the bator. Maybe that's why they say it's a no-no?

The "sets level" part is probably referring to the water wells in the bottom. If you are using sponges, there would be no renegade water to worry about.

What angle do you have to get them to to consider turned? I was going to make one of those pvc pivot turners in mine, but i need to know how far they should go...otherwise i guess i'll be doing it this way

You know, I'm not sure what the "correct" angle is. I just looked at the eggs in the turner and figured a brick would make it close...

If you go to one of the manufacturers websites (GQF etc) they may have the angle on the little blurb about the turner......

the turner wouldn't be much different, i suspect from your photo. i have the auto turner and it doesn't tilt them too far, just enough that they are side to side, not completely over like doing it by hand.
